how do you remove a g3 oil pan
1st you have to take off the lower flywheel cover, its blocking a few of the oil pan bolts, get under the car and youll spot ir right away. after you get that off, its just alot of 12mm bolts (or is it 10mm? i forgot), and it comes right off. pretty straightfoward, takes about 30 minutes tops.
Make sure you only torque the bolts on the oil pan hand tight... as a matter of fact... not that tight at all. Otherwise, the gasket will crimp, and you'll have oil dripping out like I did.

The exhaust manifold has to come off first. Then remove the engine stiffeners (if you have them, B18C1 engines do) and then the flywheel cover. Drain the oil, then remove the bolts and nuts (10 of one and 8 of the other, I think). Use a new gasket, and tighten the bolts to the exact factory specs. I don't know off-hand what the specs are, but it's not very much. Make sure they are all torqued evenly so you don't warp the pan or the gasket.

Word.
That's what I used the second time around. The first time a friend of mine was helping me do the install. I had the helms manual but he still torqued them too much.

my buddy said there might be a mesh inside to hold the sludge down, now if the pen is in pieces, some of it might be stuck there too.
can someone confirm the existance of this mesh? if so, what is it called?

it's a different guy who caused my misfortune.
on me for letting the *** ever come close to my car.
Anyways my buddy isn't sure and just told me to check so I guess there isn't a mesh like he thought.
thanks guys
