why dont you run what the mugen rsx uses? redline oil

call mike @ ips or king motorsports if you want to buy a lot of oil.

The amount of money you are spending on oil could be put to better use in other areas.

To my knowledge Mugen does not sell oil. They do sell an oil additive (MT105) and also a CV grease, never heard them selling oil though. I'm sure if they did King Motorsports would sell it, they use Redline Oil.

the "other areas" have already been covered, so its time to focus on the oil which to me is a very important part of the motor.

as far as redline oil goes, "i wouldnt put that **** in a lawnmower".

the mugen additive does work well, we have some here and are testing it out. so far it does make a noticible improvment just on how the car idles and especially how it drives.

i did though see a post of a few people here that used mugen oil and had some small drums of it. i can not recall if it was synthetic oil or not.
the reason is that me and a few friends want to get some of that oil and try it out in different motors that drive in different enviroments with different power adders and be able to come to our own conclusions.

its all about r&d.

im pretty sure your mind can trick you into thinking this when you pay that much for oil in a mugen container

I would think this disproves most ofyour R&D. I would like to see the tech data that shows that redline oil sucks ***.

All other areas covered?

what drawbacks do you find in the other areas that mugen is better at?

Im not sayin mugen oil isnt the best. I just have never read of mugen oil tests

I briefly explained how prominent the oil burning problem is among my fellow ITR owners, curious of their mechanics opinion.
The reply:
Ryan,

1qt in 3k on a t/r engine is not too bad. These motors are thrashed pretty hard by most people and half the time they were not broken in properly.

We have not had any problems with our motors if they are properly broken in and they use redline oil.

King Motorsports

king the importer of mugen seems to like and promote redline. but maybe they were taking about their honda lawn powers powered by b18c5s

if you noticed the mugen oil additive has what the stock type r piston skirts come coated with which helps reduce friction. im pretty sure you dont bother to notice since you were trying to bust *****.

I doubt if Mugen did sell their own brand of oil, they wouldn't use Castrol in their NSX *shrug*

I think you are talking about Molybdenum, right?

Redline contains Molybdenum!!!

I thought about adding MT105 to conventional 5W30, but I decided to just go with Redline synthetic 5W30.

The guys at King use both MT105 and Redline on their personal cars!!!

How much is that stuff? $50 per quart?

Now, can someone tell us where to buy M00gen filters too?

Who has the link to the oil discussion thread that's like 30 pages long? I couldn't find it using the search.

I'm sure that'd clear up some issues about what oils are crap and what oils aren't.

In all 30 pages of that thread, no one mentioned mugen oil, not even once.

I was referring to the comment about redline oil.

Do you have the link handy?

I stand corrected on the existence of Mugen oil.

eviltwin, will you be ordering a drum? I wonder how much shipping will be?

You and the others who want to try this oil change oil every 3000 miles and after every track event, correct?

You'll need a lot of room to store all of your drums of oil.

Mugen oil... now that is some serious bling. I almost wonder if it's repackaged Castrol (or some other widely available oil), it seems a little odd to me they would have Castrol/Redline stickers all over the Mugen cars, and then sell their own oil.
