Default engine trouble *help*

I was driving down the road and my car jerked and just died out. I coasted into a parking lot and tried to start, no luck. I popped the hood to see what was wrong. Didn't see anything bad. So I decided to check the oil, nothing on the dipstick, not even a drop. I went and bought 4 qts of oil and put in 2. then I tried to start and it tried to start and after a few tries it started but then just died. and now it wont start at all. I am wondering if there is going to be any serious damage. I am going to change spark plugs today and see if that will work. I am no mechanic so I do not know what to do. Can anyone help?
Thanks

Mine did this not too long ago. Turned out I blew the coil up. You might want to replace the coil, distributor cap, and rotor.

Does anyone know if there could be any serious damage? If I really messed the
motor up I might put in a better engine or something. I have to wait and see first.
Thanks

I doubt anything was damaged. My D block burns oil kind of bad and I run low all the time. Hell, this weekend I checked my oil and nothing showed up on the dip stick so I had to do like you did and add 2 quarts.

I think your better off getting a new motor or rebuilding it. My motor burned oil pretty bad I forgot to check it before I went to Dallas it was about 100 miles one way. I was on my way back and the car died. It started knocking really loud then it died. It was out of oil. I put some in and it started but died right after then my battery died. I swapped in a new motor. I think your crank bearings are locking up. I doubt changing the plugs is going to work.

Remove 1 spark plug, and then connect it back to the plug wire. Lay the plug against the valve cover (preferably on one of the bolts), and have a friend try to crank the car while you watch to see if it fires. That will tell you if it's an ignition problem or not.

I dont know if your having the same prob I had but this may or may not help. i had a stock dx d15 motor....always drove really low on oil...and i was driving on the high way...no oil light on, and then i heard a pop, some smoke came out, my oil light came on, and it died....I later found out that I had thrown a rod, and cracked my block. basically when the oil light comes on you are bone dry....it is something that should never happen...if it does...regardless you are already doin damage, as minimal as it may be...and it all builds up....goodluck

running the car with no oil is REALLY BAD. you might be due for a rebuild or motor swap.

Going to have to check the cam/crankshaft alignment... Running it without oil, might have caused the cam shaft to seize-up enough, causing the timing belt to jump a tooth/notch or two...

Probably going to have to get a manual, in order to find the steps, on checking the above mentioned.
