Default does the viper 550 esp have hood pins?

well today i was playing around with my alarm. i armed my alarm and waited , then i popped my hood from the inside and had someone open it. the alarm doesnt even go off. i thought the 550 esp would have it. so does it come with it or do they charge more to include it.

I guess that it doesn't have hood pins.

I just got a Clifford Intelliguard 9000, which is a top of the line Clifford alarm, and it doesn't have hood pins. I, too, just confirmed that today when I opened and closed the hood w/o the alarm going off.

I'm a little shocked that they didn't include such a simple feature in their top of the line alarm. My previous alarm, which costed $200 installed by the dealer, had hood pins.

The alarm shop can install hood pins for you if you need them. Do you guys think that hood pins are necessary, or are the shock sensors strong enough to set off the alarm if somebody tries to force the hood open? I'm not sure if I should leave my alarm as is or if I should take my car back to the alarm shop to get hood pins installed. Would installing hood pins be a rather simple install or would it take them a few hours? How much should I expect to spend?

imo i think the hoodpins would be important. i know i have it in my trunk. it opens and turns on. simple as that. i wish they had it for my hood instead. i got thousand of dollars under that hood and was shocked to find that i did not have it. i also would like to know how much would it cost.

The box that the Viper 550ESP comes in includes a hood pin. It should be connected to the alarm and also so that the car will not remote start when the hood is up.

Most shops charge extra for trunk pop, just like door locks. If you have an electronic release, (or have a factory honda transmitter with a trunk button) it's just a couple of wires that get hooked up to an output on your alarm. Simple. If you have a cable operated trunk release, you'll need a trunk release soloniod which is a linear motor that clamps to the trunk release cable and pulls it when you hit your transmitter button.

But the shop SHOULD have at least installed the pin switch under the hood.

ok i wouldnt want to pay extra just for a trunk pop. cost me already 80 for power doorlocks. but yeah i do have a hood pin from my last alarm. but its not working. when i say its not working, im saying when i pop my hood when my alarm is on, it doesnt even go off.should i go back to the place and complain to them
