OT: Clueless ITR Owners!
How many of you have run accross an ITR owner who did not know his/her ITR number?
I feel that this adds to the mystique of the car, so it baffles me to see people like this. Ran into a kid a couple weeks ago who looked at me like I was speaking a martian tongue when I asked him what number his ITR was. I had to pick my mouth up off of the ground when he said "uhhh, I dunno, the number?"

Just recognize this as someone who has an ITR look-alike, and doesn't really drive one.
Atleast, that would be what I would tell myself if I ran into someone who didn't know.

Yeah, some R owners do not know what the hell they bought. Most likely they bought the car (or mom and dad did) and they thought it looked COOL or some crap.
That's kind of why I wish they didn't come with A/C stock still. A GSR is a much better car for the clueless. Hell, VTEC engages @ 4400 RPM. haha. Could you imagine some clueless R owner that shifted ALWAYS @ 3k RPM!!! LOL!

I have been noticing a lot of totally clueless ITR owners and many of them are right here under our noses on H-T. I'll be the first to admit that my tech knowledge is lagging behind a bit, but I knew a shitload about the car years before I bought it, and appreciate it for what it is, not to mention have the driving skills to enjoy it. That's not the feeling I get from a couple of the latest pop-ups.

Hey, I'm no Honda mechanic either. I wouldn't attempt to do half the chit that most people do to modify their Rs, but I can talk about the car confidently when explaining what benefits it has over the other Integras as far as performance and I am very capable at doing my own bolt ons. To own one and not have a clue as to what the car is, what it does, the rarity (somewhat now), and the true balance it holds is somewhat ignorant. It really doesn't matter what I drive, I do some serious research before I buy a car. It takes more than knowing how much horsepower and curb weight to know what you drive. I always like to know about the car before I drive it.
No disrespect to the GSR. I almost bought one in '99. SUPERSONIC BLUE. Goddamn, I love that color. I wish I could talk my bro into painting my '90 RS that color. Anyway, the R isn't for everybody. The extra HP actually provides zero or less benefit than the luxuries in the GSR to some people and those people aren't lesser for that. Everybody prefers something different. We all know that the GSR is a solid car that is a great performer and provides extra luxurious amenities.

in 1998, I saw 3 CW ITRs but still asked for a GSR..
at that time, the insurance for me is just too high..
and I was still in college..
I'll take GSR any day if there's no R in this country!!...
but now, since I have an R, it will be hard to go for a GSR..
(but I want one as a daily driver/beater)...
my R number? that's the 1st thing I checked when I get into one at any dealer!!! it's also the same number when I autoX. hehe..

I know a little bit about cars...but I wouldn't claim to be a mechanic. Anyway- just out of curiousity- I'm now almost nearing the end point of engine break-in. Just wanted to know if the 3K shift is just bad for track or daily driving as well? I do love it when VTEC kicks- but for city driving- it's nearly a waste. Isn't revving high killing gas mileage? I dunno. Maybe I'm wrong.
Swerve - rev as hard or as low as you want once break-in is completed. I usually shift around 4k normally but take it to 8400 at least once every time I drive it.
I think what meant, was that GSRs are more user friendly.
If you are not going to drive the car, then you may as well have a GSR or a base model... If all you use the car for is point a to point b commuting, then maybe an ITR is a little bit of a waste???
As for my number? I can never remember it. I know it has a 4 in it....

People tatoo their g/f's name but you know what I have....

yoshi - who thinks he has #234...jeah, I'm pretty sure that's it
The first thing I did when I got the car was...........Look at the #. The sales man asked me what I was doing. It was funny as crap, all of the people at the dealer started looking at the car and asking questions. I couldn't believe it!
