Hit the Rev Limiter or Not??
When I daily drive, I never really hit the Rev Limiter... usually I just followed the Tach to the indicated 8400 RPM.. (It's just too loud and I got scared if the engine blew up or something)
last night, without realizing, I went past 9000 on the tach but there's no sign of Fuel Cut-off...
somehow, I feel so bad since the needle is kinda deep in the RED area, so I shifted right away..
I want to drive my R to the Real 8400 limit.. (or at least just a tiny bit below the Rev Limiter).. how am I gonna know when to shift then?
Questions:
1. Do you think I should see and mark the Tach when the engine cuts-off?
2. if you go past a certain RPM, doesn't the HP goes down a little? (not peaked), therefore I shouldn't go to 8400 but maybe just 8000?
3. is there a better way to accurately measure the Engine RPM other than the Tach?
Thanks Guys..
Piyo- who got no $$, therefore just tries to drive better on the Road..

I hit the rev limiter at least once a day! The R makes power up to about 8200 (indicated could as high as 9000 RPM). The only real bentfit to riding it all the way out is when you shift into the next gear you will not drop out of VTEC.
HTH and BTW, dont be afraid of the rev limiter, it is your friend!

The real question is, if I want to shift optimally, what indicated RPM should I shift at (since the tach is wrong)? Where on the tach is 8200?
