Default big problem, please help!!

someone dropped a pen in my engine while I had it open again earlier today. Let's now ask why he dropped it in but I am not going to even crank it knowing that something bad will happen. It fell in to one of the holes behind lifter. I really need to take it out and I am not sure how to proceed about this. It looks like I have to remove the tb, im, headers to get to it.

I heard a thump sound when it dropped in.

please help

Oh my. That's ****** crazy. First of all, its a BITCH to remove the IM. Plus you got the header to remove? All this for a pen your friend dropped. Daymn that sucks.

There has to be an easier way to take out the pen.

Try posting this in the Tech forum.

it would be faster probably just to pull the whole engine and put it on the rack..

?? what hole did you drop it into? can u get a pic? also is the pen plastic or metal?? if it is metal you might be able to pull it out with a magnetic telescopic pen.

I forgot if it's the 1st or 2nd cylinder, it;s on the exhaust side. There is a deep hole there between the lock nuts, though a little closer to the head lights

ok, see the 1st and 2nd cylinder? where they meet on the bottom, there is a hole (not the bolt hole) that's where it went in, I believe

If you can see it, you are in luck. They sell tools that are long, with little grabbers on the end. Can you see the pen at all?

can you rig up a vacuum cleaner with enough **** to make something that will fit down that hole? like some plastic tubing or something???

or maybe just a vinyl/rubber hose that you could push over the pen and pull it out?

not sure how big that hole is.....just an idea...

Try compressed air and then sucking???? I dunno from the sounds of it you gotta take it apart though. Is it in one of the chambers? If not try blowing and mabey your friend can use a telescopic picker? Is there anyway that you would be able to see it if you could blow it? Just some suggestions Good luck

See if you can ghetto-rig a small tube to the vacuum cleaner hose attachment.

It's hard to picture how the hole is, but if it isnt too deep you can just use a long cooking chopstick (they are like a foot long) or go to your local arts and crafts and get a thin wood stick (they are usually about 3ft long). Just wrap it with duct tape, sticky side out and feel for it and hope it sticks to the pen. Ive done this with screws and wires that have fallen into places id otherwise never be able to reach.

hehe, send me what you got and you're in

update: I had an urge to crank it and I did it. seems to run fine so far. I let it idle until it warm up, reversed out of the garage, back in again.

I am hoping it fell into the oil pan, that's a good thing right? If that's the case do I even have to take it out?
