14 second base RSX
don't know this Klutch you speak of... but how do you spend 5 grand on i/h/e & hondata...? Just curious because that's what 360 posted as klutch's mods unless im mistaken...
Here's his list of performance mods (from his sig):
Hondata ECU Re-Flash #2 w/ 7300rpm Rev Limit
AEM Cold Air Intake
Hondata Intake Manifold Gasket
HP 4-1 Chrome Header
Carsound High Flow Cat
Magnaflow 2.25' Cat Back Exhaust
ES Motor Mount Inserts
Revo Technica Short Shifter
Custom 8 Guage 5 Point Grounding Wires
Throttle Cable Adjustment
Throttle Body Coolant Bypass
Thermo-Tec Graphite Exhaust Header Wrap
Redline Water Weter
Engine Hose Dress Up Kit (red)
Amsoil Every 5K Miles w/ Amsoil Oil Filter
94 Octane At Every Fill Up
The only notable thing I left off is the high-flow cat. The rest of that stuff won't do anything for performance.
So, it seems like I/H/E/C/hondata is pretty much all a base RSX needs to run with a Type-S. The total sum of those parts is...

That's still half of the 5k estimate you'd given before...and you're always gonna have a better starting point, regardless of what car you buy, so it's ridiculous to say, in effect, that people shouldn't mod the base RSX.

No matter what you start with, there will always be a faster starting point.
Modify your car because you love to work on it and love performance.

Ok. Here's $1500:
$350 Magnaflow exhaust
$150 HP Chrome header
$600 Hondata
$200 AEM CAI
$250 Carsound cat
Total: $1550
Those are the exact specs listed in his sig. The prices listed are ones that I've been quoted within the past 6 months (I've been shopping for some of those parts). BTW, short-shifter and motor mounts will not affect a 1/4 mile time much, if at all.
I only brought up the price because you asked before why anyone would spend $5k+ to make a base RSX as fast as a Type-S. Well, I'll explain it to you.
$19,975 Base MSRP
$1,500 Parts
--------
$21,475 Total
$23,270 Type-S MSRP
$21,475 Base w/mods MSRP
--------
$1795 saved. Equal 1/4 mile performance.
That's a lot of cash. On top of that, factor in cheaper insurance.
Anyway, my point is not that the base is better than the Type-S. Obviously, we would all get Type-S's (or Ferrari's for that matter) if money grew on trees. We don't always have the money to get what we want. Doesn't mean we can't enjoy what we have.

And if the Base RSX can do it, so can the EP3.
Maybe if I get the chance, I'll take the EP3 out to the rice strip...err...drag strip and see what it can do. I'd almost bet it is a high 14sec car with the I/H/E and Hondata.

Cool, let us know what times you get. I hope to get my car out also sometime in May.

I dont think there is anything wrong with the base model RSX,its the same thing as someone buying a LS teg cause they cant afford a GSR or an 99 SI and look how much love the ls motor gets now. There all good motor in my book.
