Toronto R Owners & Insurance Rates
Wanted to find out how much you guys are paying for your R as I'm having a REALLY hard time finding even a provider that will cover a modified car.
Please state your age as well as your rate if you don't mind, also please mention if your car was or has been modified (they ask you that on the insurance application form. Out of the dozens of firms and brokers that I've called, I have not been able to find a SINGLE firm other than CAA that takes a MODIFIED car (they also ask for a $5000 deductable!).
Can you guys also state your deductables?

i'm with state farm insurance, i am paying $177.00 per month, full coverage. And i am 26 years old. When i bought the car when i was 24 i was paying $278/month.
When i bought my car it was completely stock, plus my parent have the house and all there cars insured with the same company. That helps in bringing down your own insurance. they do know i have modified my car, but my rate has not changed.

Well, define your level of modification? If its mild then I would not worry about it.

Wow, that's a pretty good rate! I've been getting quotes for unmodified cars in the 4000+ range (for a 24 year old).
Did they ask you if you had any modifications done to your car?
I've called almost every firm and not one has been able to provide a quote on a MODIFIED car.
Was you're pretty much stock when you had it insured?

Well, basically i was told by the brokers and agents that ANY modifications for performance purpoes would not be insureable. That basically puts me in the crapper as i've got I/H/E, rims, suspensions, and mild engine work done to the car.
I'm getting nailed at like $460 per month....21 years old
When I first bought the car I was 19 and paying $360 per month. At 20 I went up to $400 per month. WITH NO TICKETS.....**** I'M ANGRY

400 bucks a month does sound pretty bad -- i've heard worst.
Who did you get it from? And was the car modded? 99% of the insurance companies i spoke to DOES NOT take ANY car that has ANY mods done on them.
The only company that I've been able to find that does take modded cars is CAA -- and they have a $5000 deductable!!!

I wanted to see what they would cover if anything was to happen, they had told me they would cover most things as long as i had a reciept (minus wear and tear of a few things). It also helped that my family and myself had only been dealing with this one company for as long as i remember.
wow insurance rate so high in Toronto.. i paid 2200 CAD for my car just renew few days ago.. lucky i still think is a bit high compare to other ppl in Vancouver..

Define "modifications for performance purpose"
You mean if I have a shitty steel exhaust system on my car and I want to change it out for a nice stainless steel system that won't rust, my insurance company won't insure me, that would be a load of BS!
Besides the ITR comes "modified for performance purpose" from the factory.
