OEM Muffler covered under life time warranty?
The muffler was replaced under warranty once. The dealer parts said it is under life time warranty - the service said no not unless I have paid for it once. Anyone know which is correct?
The darned muffler at the dealer will cost $370.00 to replace out of which $260.00 is the part. That's outrageous!!

If I can get it replaced free under the lifetime warranty that would be my first option. The dealer parts dept say Yes, but the service say no. I am looking for a need a definitive answer. Anyone here work at a Acuar dealer?
What after market would you recommend. I DO NOT want a noisy muffler.
On Yahoo search I found OEM muffler for $106.00 inc shipping. An independent Honda service said they will put it in for $40.00. Unless I get better suggestion I wil likely go that route.

if u want an aftermarket exhaust go for the apexi ws. it relatively understated, not that much noise, and add a few horses. they go for about 300-450 depending on where u get it from.

putting a new muffler in (espicially if its OEM) is very easy
jack up passenger rear point of car
with a I think 12mm wrench take off the 2 bolts on the axle-back to the b-pipe.
then take off the 2 rubber hangers that attach the muffler to the hangers on the car
put rubber hangers on new muffler
use the rubber hangers to attach the muffler to the mounting hangers. then bolt on 2 other bolts that go the the b-pipe of the exhuast
it will only take 15-20 minutes
im sure you can find a used oem gsr axle back for free or 50 bux in the classifieds section in here

Like Bob-DC2 said, installing the muffler is easy. If the parts dept said "yes, it's under warranty"..then just get the muffler from them and install it yourself.
yup... but that probably means you'll have to remove the stock faulty exhaust, drive over in a different car n get it exchanged for a new one.
