Default Cams for a SOHC .

I was just wondering, I have a 00SOHC vtec w/ Intake, headers and exhaust. How much would getting Cams do for me? Is it worth it, or should i just hold off for now and save for TURBO!

BTW, how would power COULD i make if i went cams, camgears, pulleys and other basic stuff INSTEAD of turbo. ???

Cams are the biggest power adder on any Naturally Aspirated engine. They are what controls the amount of air and fuel that is allowed into the combustion chamber.
Think of cams as a boost controller for a turbo. Stock the turbo puts out 7 psi, up the boost and the turbo puts out more....same general effect.

N-E-Way, why not get a Turbo cam and turbo?

If you decided to stay N/A you could put down up to 170 whp, and still be streetable. That takes a lot of work/money but, you can get there.

Also, if you look at the profile on the crower stage 1, it isn't as aggressive as the crower turbo cam. So you could probably get a stage 1 cam and continue to use it even after a turbo. A stage 1 cam will probably net you between 5-8whp which is pretty respectable considering the cost.

As spade said, you could put down about 170whp and still be streetable. The cost to do this is around the same as what a PROPER turbo setup would cost you.

dyno proven with a z6 and a comp 59300 cam it gives about 11 WHP. it is reccomended that you get springs and retainers along with a cam gear too. to fully utilize your new cam you must tune the engine at least a little. any future mods will give you more hp than they would without the cam. it gives you a more aggressive sound too. i just got the comp 53900 cam and i love it. fairly easily to install, if you can change your timing belt you should be able to install a camshaft.
