Default s2000 cat for jdm 2.5" header-how well does it fare?

Can you run an S2000 oem cat with an aftermarket header? Is it 2.5"? And how well does it flow in comparison to a carsound cat? does it have all the required bungs to avoid CEL? Thanks.

interesting idea... what is the inlet and outlet diameter of the S2K cat?
you might want to hit up the s2K / NSX forum w/ this - but be sure to post any info you find...

You know..if you feel that way, you could have probably said it a different way. Thanks for being a nice guy. I guess you got 98% for a reason.

I dont think that will fit. Try jdmpassword, they have JDM type R cats. That will definetly work

IT will work but u have to mod the cat cause it is not strait the back of the cat is cocked at a angle u could prob have a muff shop make a new flange and it would do more for emissions than the short little JDM ITR cat

It won't work as a straight bolt-on. You'll need a muffler shop to chop off the old outlet flange, build you a new one, and then weld the flange onto the cat. You may also need to have your exhaust flange cut and rewelded to shorten your exhaust if the S2000 cat is too long.

So no, it won't work, but you can make it work with a good amount of extra money and time. Personally I'd just check out SMSP and get a Carsound cat all ready to go for a bolt-on application. Carsounds perform just as well as test pipes on the dyno so you know they are probably the best you can ask for as far as power goes.

The appeal of this idea is that it is a stock cat.

I'm looking into using a CL-S cat for my car. Will probably have to put new flanges on it to make it fit, but oh well.

stock cat doesn't mean better performance, same would go for the price, most likely it will need to be modified on the lenght. carsound works fine except heatshield rattle (which, could be fixed with few more welds). i have about 45K miles on my carsound cat.

Where did I say anything about better performance?

For most street-driven applications the difference between a high-flow cat and an OEM cat are not noticable anyway.

The appeal of a stock cat is not having to worry so much about the insides falling out. That, and a Honda part number, which is nice to have when inspection time comes around.

I guess if you can get a used cat in good condition then it may be worth the OEM-ness of the cat. Otherwise a new cat from Honda is around $800. HyTech has the OEM Renaults but I'm not sure how much they sell just the cat for as it usually just comes with the exhaust systems.

I still have not had one single problem with my SMSP CarSound cat...

yeah my carsound has the rattling problem now...that is why I am wanting a better solution...I like the highflow characteristics; but the rattle is not worth it...any suggestions?
