I don't know, but it's probably better to just FILL it up and check it every once in a while. Whey would you want to overfill? You'll probably end up not checking it as often because you'll tell yourself that you have more than enough - then one day VTEC will cut out!

When I go to Acura to get my oil changed I give them 5 quarts of Mobil 1. They always give me 1/2 a quart back. The manual says 4.25 quarts right? Thats only a 5% difference, I would think it would be that bad....

What I've heard is that too much oil can cause the crank to "froth" the oil, so that it doesn't flow. When it doesn't flow, your motor gets starved for oil and bad things happen, very quickly.
As stated, I don't think that .25 or .5 a quart are critical amounts. Maybe 1 or more quarts too much?
Thoughts on how much is enough to cause a problem?

Your not supposed to fill it till it dribbles out the fill hole??? OH wait was that for the Tranny?? hehe 
Supposedly too much is as bad as too little. Or so I've heard... I've heard the churning theory as well... sounds like it would make sense.

Mobil 1 (and basically all synthetics) resist foaming... One of the primary advantages to synth. Others are more stability at temp, and better shear resistance (in particular, on the cylinder walls).
