Default 4th gen Exhaust systems.... need ur help guys.

k well.... I'm in the market for an exhaust system.. I think the current thermal system I have is amazing quality/sound but I've decided to make a 2.5 inch ststem from my collector back soooo I need to know if anyone make an off the shelf 2.5 inch system or not? I've heard the greddy PE is 2.5..Is this true? I also want a system that sounds like my thermal did...Last thing I want is something that sounds like a severly overweight man whos done nothing all day except chew on laxatives... aka (big giant fart exhaust). Thanks for ur input.

did you consider getting custom piping put in and keeping the system the same from the axle back? or more thoroughly; cutting off the axle back piping to the muffler and running custom 2.5" piping welded to the engine side of the muffler? just a couple ideas. i just got a thermal stealth and i love how beefy it sounds. good luck.

yes I have considered these options....everything is gonna be 2.5 from the flex pipe to the cat... from cat back I think I'll get a custom system made and then weld a thermal muffler w a 2.5 inch inlet... How does the stealth sound? I have a classic and I love it...sound gets a little harsh when u get off the gas but I'd be interested in maybe getting a stelth...Would I lose power w a stealth?

How much does the average muffler shop charge to put together piping, resonator and a muffler? I was thinking about buying an exaust system from Kteller8 but I want to know this first hand.

Im in CA, if that helps. Any help appreciated

teenheartthrob: muffler shops like mieneke charge about 100+ bux for custom piping..at least around here that's how it goes (i'm in upstate ny)

96SR-V: i still reccomend the stealth, it's very deep (probably deeper w/ larger dia. piping) and not buzzy at all. it does drone if you let off the gas to a small degree, but much much more tolerable than an N1 or Skunk2. The stealth is lower than the classic but they sound very similar, i would say you wouldnt lose any power.

Nice I'd like to stay w the sound of my thermal....and although its not really all that loud I wouldn't mind something a little quieter..as long as flow is not compromised... Anyone have any clues as to what kinda gains I might get out of this switch..... My current setup includes s-pistons, crower 2's, hondata etc... Car makes power to 8000rpm. My current exhaust setup is : DC CC Header w/ 2.25 car sound cat ,thermal classic cat back. I will be changing to Greddy SS header w/ 2.5inch collector mod 2.5inch flex pipe & 2.5" carsound cat hooked up to a 2.5" custom exhaust. Any guestimates?

well to be honest, everyones says that my apexi N1 is nice, everyone has a given it a bad rap from hearing it on civics and such, but mine is deep down low, and gives a very nice rev note as the revs increase, i love it, in fact my freind who had the greddy on his 4 door accord with an h22, remarked that my exhaust is nice and smooth until i get on it, and its 2."...great flow and match for my greddy...but all up to you i guess...

PreludeRacer023 - how loud is your exhaust compared to something like the greddy sp?

Yep. The muffler is where you make or break your gains. There's a terrible misconception that many people believe that "all exhausts perform about the same" if they have a certain piping diameter. That is completely false. A thermal stealth muffler would not be straight through and would rob a noticable amount of power.

My exhuast isnt much louder than the SP until you hit like 5500...but i love the deep low sounds when just normally driving around, and when i romp it, it sounds awesome, it is loud, but i mean come on its a free flowing exhaust, its not tinny or raspy, just like a loud rooooar...very nice

Thx Mike.... I really was not sure if that was the case? I'd imagine it is true cuz I'd imagine the flow would be restricted by making the exhaust flow differently or by having it pass more sound detoning material.... I'll go with a classic muffler...

I myself have the Greddy PE, and it is 2.5", straight through. Is is a bit loud when you get on it, but if purrs pretty nice when cruising. About the only thing I don't really care for is the big tip, I believe it is a 4". But it is angled, so it's not that bad, and it fit right up to all the factory mounts without a problem.

Isn't there a slight angle to the end of tip? I'll have to look again, maybe I was just thinking that because it doesn't stick out from behind the bumper, that is really isn't all that obtrusive.

Yeah, I went out and checked and there is an angled tip. keeps it from looking out of place. I went to the Greddy website and didn't see anything listed regarding a silencer. But I don't think this exhaust requires one. of course that's my opinion but the PE isn't really that loud and doesn't get raspy at high rpms

Pretty sure...the greddy website suggested the PE was for really crazy all motor or turbocharged engines...I haven't heard it on my car yet so I can't comment on the sound
