Custom AC Lines to Accommdate the Mugen Intake?
Just inquiring as to whether anyone has had some custom lines fabricated that would go around the intake rather than have to zip tie the lines apart.
To anyones knowledge, are there even shops in SoCal that do this type of work?
TIA

Custom car builders have AC lines built all the time. Try going to a shop that does custom work, usually older muscle cars, and ask them where they get there lines. They might even do it there in the shop as its really not that hard and does not require very expensive tools.
To the best of anyone's knowledge has anyone experienced any problems, either leaking or cracking from splitting the lines apart that much? I wouldn't imagine they're made to be bent that much.

My ac works fine. My lines are bent to accomodate the mugen intake.
I have had ZERO problems.

I'm talking more a few months down the road, they work now, but I'm wondering if the stress of being zip tied and yanked as far as they will go will cause any issues in the long haul.
They are actually sitting against the intake duct and are not zip tied any longer. The zip ties were only needed in order to make additional room to drop in the cold air duct, otherwise about 4-5 hands would be needed.
Ask kkim, mike m or anyone else with the Mugen Intake and AC.
I do not think there is any wear and tear that is any different from the AC lines being in their 'natural' position. They are not bending as time goes on, have not moved since the initial 'repositioning', nor have the rubber/foam covers over the AC lines shown any signs of wear, tear or rubbing.
3 track days of 284 total miles and about 4000 street miles later.... ( I put the intake in 6-7 weeks ago) no signs of wear, no ac problems even after prolonged use, nothing.

Oh, alright, from the install pictures I got the impression that the lines were zip tied and stretched as far as they could go and then left that way.

I allowed my AC lines (still in their rubber/foam/whatever covers) to sit against my intake duct. I have the possible 'rubbing' points wrapped in a cut up towel, and I was planning on using some double sided tape to protect them in the future, as well as protect from the ABS module and intake coming into contact.
Anyhoo.... anyone else want to chime in with their mugen intake/AC experience?

the lines can be bent but as most/ all onwers would say, be careful. I let out all the gases and slightly bent the lines for the intake to fit. I've had no problems.
So, it seems that the general consensus is that there are no problems with bending and or moving the lines out of place for long periods of time.
This is good to hear. I'll still keep the custom AC line option open, but at least now I know moving the lines is safe.
Thanks everyone.

No need for custom lines. Bend them, or as Wes says "massage" them to the right.. I originally massaged mine up, but massage them to the right and it works really well.
EDIT: right when standing in front of and facing the car

BEND them
Quite easy to do, I'd take pics but it looks like someone beat my AC lines with a baseball bat after I 1st bent them to fit the ARC Intake and then Rebent them to fit the Mugen

I've had mine in since December 2002. No problems, so far.
If I were you, and if looks dont make a big diff to you, I'd just do the install by massaging the lines out of the way while installing the intake. If by some misfortune you should end up with a cracked line, have custom lines done then.
I've known other people with the intake installed a lot longer than mine and they have not had any problems to date. Good luck
