Who has the cheapest new stock ITR clutch available? I know the fellas at Baranco Acura have a good deal, and I would go with them outright, but I may already be taking a bite of $300 on the ACT one I already bought, so I'm looking to be saving as much money as possible. Anyone? And anyone running the ACT HD setup on a stock setup have problems? I hadn't heard of any...until now, with my car...

Yep, stock is what I have to go back to now. I didn't think ACT HD would be that big of a difference in holding capacity, I thought it was like a Stage I type of upgrade... Maybe that's part of the harsh engagement while I was driving, eh, Bryan? Or maybe it's just my crappy shifting, heh heh...
About how many miles did you guys replace the clutch? I don't auto x my car but do some 1/4 drag here and there....nothing much....Mostly Just a daily driver with 43k miles. Clutch makes anyoing noise when its hot....
I had up around 34K on my stock clutch and it was beginning to "click" whatever that meant. it has since been replaced with a HyperClutch and I fuggin love it...feels just like stock only smoother if thats possible.

don't know the going rate on one, ask Len for a price on that.
as for the swap, you need an engine hoist to get to the clutch

I have the HDSS setup, been on for maybe 2000 miles, and as of last Monday, here's what happened: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=476557
Take it to Schaeffer's, says the ACT is too much for a stock engine, a few others have now as well. Prior to the transmission locking up thing, I had no problems at all, and I loved the quick and smooth engagement. But if it's screwing up my engine, back to stock.

If you decide to go with stock, I have a brand new ITR friction disk I'm selling here:

It might save you a little money.

Little bit of a repost, but I thought it should be seen here:
Ok, here's what happened. Because the ACT clutch is so strong, when engaging/disengaging, it pulls so hard on the crankshaft, that after awhile, these metal thingies (I can't remember their name) get squished again and again, and eventually fail and shred thousands of little bitty metal shavings all into the oil pan, which is then picked up by the oil pickup and sent through the whole engine. When those thingies fail, the crank can move from side to side, causing more problems. In addition, all the little metal shavings get in the bearings and mess those up. So now that all my bearings are shot, they need to be replaced, though luckily my crankshaft isn't too messed up.
As far as the transmission is concerned, a similar thing, although the stress was apparently placed on the bearings, synchros, and shift forks, all of which are messed up with mine. So now that needs to be rebuilt as well.
What all of this comes down to is that the ACT HD clutch is just too damn strong for a stock engine/transmission. With that said, anyone with a TRACK-ONLY CAR interested in my ACT setup, let me know. Only like 2000 miles on it, I loved it before it cost me $2200. Again, TRACK-ONLY people, or at least cars with a strengthened bottom end, and I mean strengthened.
I have to give a huge
to Ben Schaeffer, awesome guy and a huge help.
By the way, who needs an engine hoist to swap a clutch? Floorjack and some jackstands will cut it...

Has anyone else had this problem with there ACT HDSS setup? I know a lot of people are running this and I have run this setup in the past on my Civic hybrid with no problems.
