Default question regarding timing...

hi everyone,
have a ? regarding timing, how do you know if your timing is off? and how do i go about checking this? my 97accord 2.2 is backfiring and its nothing ignition wise, ive changed and checked everything (plugs,cap,rotor,coil,dist, etc) jus wana know what are sum of the symptoms of bad timing and how i can go bout fixing this.

if it is backfiring, your innitial timming may be off. i.e. the belt off. you may need to look in to this.
