HELP: Replacing LCA/shock bushing
In my other post, I stated how my friend snapped the head off one of my LCA to shock bolts. So we cut off the welded nut today hoping that the rest of the bolt would be able to be pushed right out. But it is frozen into the bushing. So do I have to replace the whole bushing to get it out? What parts will I need from Acura tomorro? And how do I get the bushing out? It seems like there is a metal piece around the bolt. Thanks for any help
I already cut the bolt on both sides, and I got the shock out.... But a piece of the bolt is still inside the bushing. Can I just melt the bushing with a torch?
I had the same thing happen to me. I pressed the old bushing out with a 20 ton press. It was barely strong enough. When I replaced all my bushings with urethane, I pushed out the rubber with a smaller press, all I had available then, then CAREFULLY cut the shell with a hacksaw until I was almost though. Do not cut into the arm itself. Then peeled the shell out with a hammer and chisel. The new one presses in much easier than the old one comes out. I don't think a vise is enough to press in the new bushing.
The only parts you should need are the new bolt and the bushing.

I hate honda suspension, fortunately I had to replace my LCAs anyway but in your case your probably going to have to do a pain in the rear process of getting the bushing out yourself or take it to a local honda shop and get the darn thing pushed out and a new set pressed in, make sure you put a healthy dose of anti-sieze on the bolts, noone likes frozen rear suspension bolts.

not that I have found...
I have personally messed with 2 honda suspensions and take advice from people who have worked on atleast 10 more, we have looked high and low for good bushing removal tools but most of them require a path through the bushing

I had to take my old LCA's to a machine shop to get them pressed out with hydraulic press.
Even then, the bushings don't just pop right out after being in there for so long. Only one of the four popped right out with the press. The rest had to have the rubber torn out and the outer sleeve air chiseled out.
The bores were cleaned up and lubed, and then the new bushing was pressed in with the press.
Cost for me: $25/bushing x 4 = $100

hey, i got an energy suspension bushings set (all 4 for the rear lca's ) for sale because i accidently ordered 2 of them in case someone needs a set. let me know..thanks.
that happened to me not too long ago..like a few weeks. I said **** it, drilled it out, fucked up a collar, said **** it again, and bough the es master kit
this happened to me too..
took it to a local mechanic and had him press it out, ended up using a torch or something, then had to go buy new bushings and told him to put them in, not fun and not cheap
on the plus side, saves me the headache, just drop off car, wait 2-3 hours, pick up car with new bushings in, continue with suspension install.
