Default Carbon Fiber Hood + or -

I was plaining on getting a carbon fiber hood on my 98 integra gsr, but when i was talking to my friend, he said it would be a stupid move because less weight in the front, would mean that in a race i would spin them more easily..and i was just wondering if it would be smart to get a carbon fiber hood or just keep my stock hood on...

CF hoods are just fine...and they will not affect traction or handling in any possible noticable fashion.

i don't think 15-20lbs will make that much of a difference to affect your traction.

How much can a carbon fiber hood do anyway? I mean, i'm all about function over fashion. can a CF hood even be all that beneficial?

CF hoods really arent all that beneficial -- I mean yea they are lighter...but cmon. Lets be realistic. Go on a diet and itll do just as much good. I love how they look, so I got one. The performance of it is a great perk...but its not something youll do strictly for performance.

That's what i figured. I do think they look good on certain colored cars, but I don't think it would ever look good on mine.

I'm getting one because someone backed onto my stock hood... costs the same to repair and repaint it as it would for me to buy a CF hood. It will not look all that great on my dark blue car either, but I will lose a few pounds and it will at least be more unique. Why not lose some weight when you have the opportunity?

If you get a CF hood, dont you need hood pins to keep the hood from flipping open or something?

if we all go on atkins and loose a few pounds, we wouldnt need CF hoods

CF hoods look sharp on white cars with black/gunmetal wheels. Other than that, I dont care for the look too much

Yes... If you had bothered to read my post throughly you would have learned that my car is dark blue, which is not normally accented with CF for aesthetic purposes. Don't believe me? Try to find pictures of 5 different DARK blue Integras with CF hoods, I'm not talking light blue, its adriatic blue pearl on a 1999 LS coupe.

get the cf hood but also lighten your cars in other ways. because losing 20lbs or so with the replacement of a CF hood really isnt going to be much of a factor unless you lighten up the entire car. I.E. losing some interior, removing spare wheel etc...

Actually my car is more this color, which is far more blue than yours It is also much darker blue than the other cars you got pictures of. This is the only picture of a dark blue Integra I have seen with a CF hood.
