Wooohooo I love it! My friend and I installed my new clutch and flywheel yesterday. This was our first time to pull a tranny and change a clutch with the motor still in the car (we changed his on his swap, but the motor was out of the car). Total time from start to finish was just over 5 hours, not too bad for first timers I think.
Such a nice blue anodized flywheel, too bad it's about to be covered up (and yes we did clean those fingerprints off the friction surface before installing the clutch).
Here's my old stuff after 134K miles of abuse. The friction disc was toast, but not in terms of the friction material. A few pieces around the springs had broken off, and the springs had actually touched the flywheel.
Also the throwout bearing was totally shot, making all kinds of noise when we shook it.
And so now I've begun that long 500 mile break in process. That means no VTEC for me for a couple of weeks or so. However even just driving around and staying under 4K rpm, I can tell it is DEFINITELY faster off the line. No doubt my car would pull in the 14's in the 1/4 mile now. I can't wait to get on it and take it to 8K rpm.

5 hours? that's not too bad, i never pulled a tranny out of a car w/ the motor on either, i did my clutch change before i swapped in my new motor, i might have to do a clutch swap soon though...

Uhh the lift was 2 jackstands and the jack (for the tranny) was brute strength. I was under there bench pressing that thing up into place, and I'm sore as hell today. No power tools used, and everything was torqued down to factory specs. Like I said, first time for us to do this. Nobody does any kind of automotive work lightning fast the very first time they attempt it, not even your friend.

Congrats!
i just ripped my clutch out all by myself, no help. and it took me forever. 4 hours because i didnt take the axles off right away. Now i am looking for a clutch set and flywheel. how much did you spend on yours?
thanks
oh yea... my clutch was pretty worn down, the pads had about a hair left. the reason i pulled it apart was it wouldnt get into gear anymore. it did but you could hear it kind of hitting the flywheel or whatever.
thanks
Pete

Hey Patrick Congrats man!! How do ya like it?!???? Lemme know when you come through Bham again! Wanna check out the car! What kinda HID's do you have??
Hey Patrick, congrats on the new clutch and flywheel. Which kit did you get and how much did you get it for? I'm looking to get a CM clutch and flywheel once the money rolls in for it.
I checked at http://www.nopionline.com, and their prices are pretty high...almost $600 for the CM stage 1 and CM aluminum flywheel.
I'm glad you got everything in and working. I am also glad you like the flywheel so far. Aren't you glad to listened to me and got the lightweight FW? The picture of the stock FW, clutch disc, and pressure plate looked excatlly like mine did when I took it out of the car.
Congrats on the install and 5 hours is pretty good time
