grind grind grind
Wow I got my ITR almost 2 months ago and never grinded any of the gears at high speeds until last night, sheesh ever notice when you grind 1 time you get paranoid that you'll grind some more, well I grinded 3rd, then 2nd 3 times in a arrow, jeez did I feel ******* bad, how bad does grinding hurt the gears :\. O and what kind of seating do you guys have, very close the stearing wheel, I saw f&f and the guy practicly had his left foot jacked up to his belly, I may move my seat up. I wanna change my shiftnob, what's the best place to order it from on the net and which one is better. Any input would be appreciated thanks
I know what you mean about grinding gears. I never used to do it, but once you do it a few times, you get scared, and it's like you can't stop. I've been grinding when I try to go from 2nd to 4th, or even 4th to 5th and 5th to 4th. Once your confidence in your shifting goes, you grind the **** out of it.
That's all I got :\, btw is there a canadian site to order jdm parts such the shift **** and maybe a short throw stick(what are the advantages of having one of these, easier to shift?)
If you learn how to shift without using the clutch at all, basically matching revs and "unloading" the drivetrain with the right amount of throttle between shifts, rest assured, you will never grind when you actually use the clutch!
Actually the R shift pretty easily without the clutch. I mean I won't be doing a flat out run banging through the gears, but during a "casual" cruise it will shift no problem, you just need to be careful not to grind it!

I grind the 1-2 every once in while. Usually I can tell if I've missed the shift and stop before grinding it, but every so often....oops. It shouldn't be too bad if you don't end up forcing it and let go as soon as you hear the noise.
I've done it on the 4-5 shift just cruising on the freeway once too, that was weird. I think I took to long to shift or something, it just didn't feel right. Like the engine and trany were spinning at different speeds and the synchros didn't work right.
