too much oil??
just check the oil dipstick, as long as it's right on the top hole it's ok....... if it's over the top hole then you have too much oil...... and if you have too much oil you might see a performance hit cause basically the engine is choking on oil, but really you'd have to be way over the top hole for your engine to choke
BTW - did you use your normal OEM honda motor oil?

Hi,
It will hurt perf somewhat. I've heard a dyno trick by some shady tuners is to drain a little oil for a few HP gain from "tuning."
On the flip side, it can be very bad to have too much oil. I don't know how much is enough to hurt your car, but at some point the crank will "froth" the oil up, in which case it doesn't flow. If it doesnt't flow, bad things happen very quickly. I doubt that the little bit you may be over is too much though. On the Audi board, a few people reported engine damage from too much oil and some claimed it's worse to have too much oil rather than too little. Again, I don't think you are at the critical level though...
Thoughts?

i use the honda oil as always....i just checked the dip stick and the oil is about 1/2 a mm over the second hole maybe even less than a 1/2 mm over...so i guess its not that bad then.......but i have a race this saturday and didnt want to lose any performance.....thats why i was worried.....thanks for the info...

this pisses me off. about 3 or 4 days after Acura changed my oil I checked it and the oil was about 1.5cm over the top dot (far). I called them up, and the service guy said thats where its supposed to be. Naturally I trusted him, since he is supposed to know what he's talking about. After reading this tread, I realized that the service guy was way wrong.
I got my oil changed like 2 or 3 weeks ago (about 1,000 miles). Hopefully this didn't cause any problems, but I'm going back to Acura tomorrow to have them fix this. Dumb **** service men, dont know dick!

too much oil can cause problems. if you have too much oil you can kill your rings. I beleive this is due to the fact that there is now more crank case pressure.
over filling the crank case by a little will not do much harm. if you add over half a litre extra you might be in some trouble. 1cm over the top dot is hardly anything to be concerned about. if it were 1 inch over then i would be worried.
1 inch over the top dot is approximatly 1 litre to much.
