Default Whats the deal with KONI shocks saing not to use Eibach springs??

i just ordered an Eibach Pro-Kit from ebay today, (yes, i know, i hate ebay, but it was a right place right time kinda thing), so i figured what the hell, i'll get some Koni yellows too, i go to Konis site to see fi the SH and base model Konis are the same (i found some for an SH on eBay too), and they say NOT to use with Eibach springs.... anyone know if ti matters, or if Koni and Eibach just have a bad business realtionship

They are designed to purposely not fit. KYB and Eibach are owned by the same people, in a round about way. This just encourages buyers to buy more of their product.

i think thats BS, all springs are the same im almost positive, and Konis fit on OEM springs, and Neuspeed race, so the drop isnt too low, i think it may simply be an advertising thing, i know Koni and Neuspeed had a partnership as did KYB and Eibach, i personally think Eibachs are the best handling springs..and i like Konis, but i love my tokico blues, so im gonna upgrade to better Tokickos..getting the Illuminas..peace

I think Koni generally wants people to use Neuspeed springs because of their partnership.

And they're probably also just covering their asses because they didn't test them with Eibachs, and somebody would be bound to sue them if something went wrong!

Why wouldn't the combo work.
Your only concern should be if the little aligning notch on the front shock fits into the front fork properly. As you SAMUAL I just did a suspension install and if you can seat the spring on the shock properly then any shock should fit.
HEY Sammie let me know if you need my expertise.

Sam,

Im almost positive it will work..I know of at least 2 ludes...5th gens even that run eibach springs w/Koni Yellows..

Hell Ground Control uses Eibach springs and I am 100% postive that you can run Koni/GC...everyone knows of that setup..

There are really only 2 things to be concerend about w/springs..the OD and Rate....they should be fine.

i've got an eibach prokit and have been running on my stock shocks for 2 years now... they still aren't blown but how long are these things gonna last? hopefully the koni yellows are fine with the prokit because that has been my plan for quite a while. anyway, boosted, you still want that clutch?

Sounds like total BS to me! As long as they are the right valving for the spings there is no good reason not to use them. In fact GC sells the koni yellows with eibach spings as a package all the time, give them a call and see what they say. I bet they say it's all BS also

I wrote to Koni the other day, and I got a reply from Gordon Benson <gbenson@koni-na.com>. Note that the Eibach-Koni compatibility issue deals only with the 5th Gen Prelude. He wrote:

The reason that the Eibach Pro-kit springs cannot be used with the Koni Sport shocks is because the Eibach springs are made to the same specs as the Type SH springs. If you notice, we have a exclusion on the Type SH because the bottom of the front springs are wound tighter than the non-SH setup. This, in turn, does not sit on the spring seat correctly and can cause issues later on. Currently, I only know of H&R that makes a spring that will correctly with our front spring seats. If you have any questions, please write back and let me know. Thanks for writing.

Gordon

I hope this helps answer some questions.

Gordon Benson helped me when I was looking for shocks for my prelude. He seems like a good guy.

Yeah, and I have koni's for my 3g, with eibachs! (although they sit on adjustable perches)

I've had koni yellows with the Eibach prokit for three years. Had to get the special collars to fit the Konis. The only problem is the famous suspension "clunk" at low speeds or over speed bumps. The set-up is awesome, though. Much, much better than stock. At ultra high speeds (taking 40 mph corners at 90 mph), the suspension feels inadequate, even with the shocks adjusted to firm. For racing suspension, you need higher spring rates than the prokit.

I am running eibach sportlines on my 94 hatch with tokico blues. The thing is tho, they are from a 94-01 integra. They fit fine, but the ride is horribly stiff. The whole car shakes when I fit bumps and anything more than a crank in the road, kind of unpleasant.

I dont know if I just need civic springs, or cut the bumpstops ? OR what ?
