Default Power Loss with AC Running?

The weather has been hot lately and I was remembering when I was a kid my dad would switch the AC off when he needed to really get off the line quick (all references to street racing will be forwarded to my father... )
I'm assuming there is a power loss with the AC...

What can of power loss can we expect in the R with AC running?

I agree...you will definitely feel it when you accelerate.

It's SO BAD you can't miss it. Driving with A/C on is SO ANNOYING.

my car feels like a GSR with the AC on.... j/k but it does hurt acceleration on our cars.

Of course, I do really feel the power loss. I was wondering how great that loss actually was versus what my butt dyno was telling me...

No way I'm taking out the AC living in Texas...

I don't see how you can feel a difference, most (if not all) newer cars turns off the AC when you go WOT, when you let off, it comes back on.

It bypasses the compressor at WOT. I read that somewhere also..

When at Wide Open Throttle... the compressor kicks off. You can feel the a/c "power drain" when it kicks back on.

Actually I ran the 1/4 mile with it on once. I know I know..... why ..... well it was a humid night and my windshield fogged up so I turned the ac on. I just forgot to turn it off ..... well anyway here is how it went.

I was running 15.0x for the first three runs. With the AC on, I ran a 15.3x.
Thats not that bad ..... I figured it would be worst than that.

But I guess at WOT, it cuts off.

ACcelerate at low rpms at 1/4 throttle and turn on AC. You WILL feel it slump.
