OLD!!! The kid was 17 years old and he was trying to do a burn out and lost control. He wound up paying for damages to both cars and never apologized to the owner of the VW. The VW owner chased him down to a Toyota forum and demaded an apology.

Lack of experience!! there are many things he could of done to prevent that.
1. uhhh....brakes...use them!!
2. countersteer
3. oversteer and spin! Play it off and do donuts!!
4. e-brake
5. pull it out of gear
6. clutch in...
but the dumbass just let it go!

Haha yeah I remember this one from way back. The guys shooting the video was the best part.
I know it's fun to flame this guy and all but really you see his brake lights were on so he didn't just let it go right into there. I don't know how the hell he lost control going straight like that unless he lost grip of the wheel or something. Dumb kids like him are why I don't like going to the drag strip. But still it's funny, trying to show off and crap passing some VW meet and ending up smack right in the middle of it haha. Should be thankful though that no one got run over when that Jetta went flying all the way over there.

Yep, you're right.
Countersteering was an impossibility.
As well as on-brain intelligence.
On the contrary I remember hearing somewhere about that happening to quite a few MR2 owners. It's just too bad the kid didn't know what to expect.

it looks like he really didnt hit the brakes hard at all , like he didnt try very hard , its pretty intrested , thank you for posting I HAVE NOT SEEN it . . . .

im pretty sure the guy got scared and let go of the steering wheel completely
