Default Remote Start, but not security

I wanted some help with this topic I started in security. Basically what I want is just a remote start, for a manual tranny, no keyless, just one control with remote start, I want to keep my normal factory keyless. All other info is on linked thread

A remote start isn't recomended for a 5-speed. You probably will have a hard time finding someone to install it for you. I got mine from best buy and installed it myself.

I helped one of my friends install one in his civic....which was 5-spd. although it's not recommended to do this, we snipped the two leads on the clutch-safety switch and connected those two together...to trick the ecu into thinking that the clutch pedal is depressed. our unit required a negative 12v as a shutoff/safety source. we wired that lead to the emergency brake switch. the car won't start if the e-brake handle is down

yea best buy has jus a remote start kit for any cars...its not much and its easy to install on a 5 speed like someone said..jus clip the two wires on the clutch pedal and connect them together so fool the ecu...other then that its straight forward...and dont leave it in gear......

i thought about getting one for my 6th gen accord but that would just ruin the whole point of the transponder. because if you car has this you would have to cut up one of your keys and glue it by the ignition. in the correct position i might add to make it start up properly.

nope, I have looked into this. they have one that you dont need to lose a key and it will only bypass during the remote start for a 6th gen accord. http://transponderbypass.com/pkh2.asp?cid=13 take a look @ that.

remote starts are not harmful if installed correctly...when you look for the tach wire to hook up the remote start go the the actual tach wire...not the injector clip...some peeple tap onto the injector wire and when it gets cold the car wont start...other then that its safe...

whats this about losing a key when installing it in a 6th gen accord?

i think thats gonna suck to carry around 2 remotes, dont most remote start systems have a keyless entry too?

remote starts are awesome to have in the winter, and impress the women.

PS some have a smart tacless mode that sence the voltage running to the starter somehow, so you dont have to find the tac wire.

you need to bypass the immobilizer unit in your car. if you dont, when you go to remote start it, it will realize there is no key in the ignition, the key with the chip in it that tells its physically its ok to start, and not only will it not start but it wont be able to start for like a half hour or something like that. It totally shuts down the car. Just go to that website and you get a bypass. What I was talking about with losing the key is that someone of the bypasses they make are actually like a box that you put a spare key into and leave it hidden inside the car. That is where you would actually "lose" it.

As far as the two remotes, I would like to have two, just because I dont need a security system at all, and I already have factory keyless, So i just want remote start. I dont want a remote start with alarm, or keyless or any of the other BS. I have seen some systems that look like they say they will add on to a factory system and then you can use your factory remote. For an example, what they gave was, to remote start, I press on my factory keyless, "Lock, Unlock, Lock" and that sequence of buttons means for it to start. Im looking for something more like that. But the other problem is I want to get a remote start that is design for manual tranny, which means it has the precautions to put it into ready mode and such before you get out. I'm having a hard problem finding all of this stuff. but i know thats because I'm being picky.

if you have a 6th gen accord you need to lose a key...most newer cars have a chip in the key and sends a signal to the ignition...you can tell if your car is gonna need an immobilizer is when you take your key out the ignition and picture of a key shows up on your dash...if so you need an immoblizer...they cost like 50 bucks at best buy...
you should use your valet key to put in the immobilizer so that way you can still open your trunk and glove box and all that...the box with the key in it are hidden somewhere under your dash so if you ever need the key for some reason you can still get it...

thats what I'm saying, that link that I gave above, makes it so that you DONT need a key. Unless I'm reading something wrong. I'm pretty sure this was covered before that you dont need to give up a key. Check out that link again. I think its the PKH2
