Default Valve Adjustment

I currently have approx 57.000 KM on my car and I thought it was time to get a valve adjustment. I took my car to my mechanic (He knows his stuff) and he says that I dont need one. Could this be? I drive my car hard.

Thanks

Steve

does it make any valve/clicking noise at idle?

mine did NOT make any noise and all the valves were out of adjustment...can't hurt anything....

Yeah, most mechanic will tell you a valve adjustment is not needed unless you hear loud tapping from the valves.

Just check the clearances to see if its off.. isnt too hard and not very time consuming but it'll kill your back!

I've had a couple of friends tell me how to do it. Doesn't sound hard at all. I guess it's a lot easier on an LS than on a GS-R. But I would still want someone who has done it before to walk me through it, just to be on the safe side.

If it's not broke, don't fix it, wait untill your do for a T-belt. Usually you need a valve adj. at that many K's when you rebuild your motor, and if i remember correctly, it's just a matter of putting shims on top of the bucket. I think anyway???!!! It's been awhile

it's the same step for LS engine just that valve cover bolts are different and the clearance spec is different

Factory spec for the B18C1/5 and B16A is:

Intake: 0.006"-0.007"
Exhaust: 0.007"-0.008"

Factory spec for the B18B and B20B/Z is:

Intake: 0.003"-0.005"
Exhaust: 0.006"-0.008"
