what were your compression/leakdown results before/after boosting?
i know there are way too many variables involved but i was just wondering how crazy some of you guys really are. im getting on average 190 across the board with my b18a/b 175k miles but still occasionally wonder if i should turn back (probably not!). gonna do a leakdown anyways just to make sure. i figure even with proper tuning, you never know what can happen..
35k motor pre turbo
185-190 range as far as compression tests go, never leaked down prior to turbo
54k on motor now with turbo still on there
Compression #'s are the same, however leakdown shows some wear
#1 and 4 cylindars are perfect with 2% leakdown.
#2 has 9% leakdown, and the air is leaving through the exhaust valves.
#3 has 6% leakdown, and the air is also leaving thru the exhaust valves.
I was told by a few people, including the shop that installed my turbo I'm fine and in the clear, but definatly the valve seats or something with the valves isen't so perfect, but no changes as far as idling or driving at all...
My motor loves the boost :D

I didn't do any tests before the turbo, but I've been boosting @ 10 PSI for the past 14K miles, have just over 130,000 on all stock internaled D16Z6, and pulled out a 200, 195, 200, 192 compression test two weeks ago.
SOHC powah!

I have no idea what my Compression #'s were before I boosted, but after a year of 12psi daily from a T-25 setup my ZC has a 160 average.
Keep in mind, I'm at almost 6000ft, so I'm sure that changes the results somehow.

i know the warnings for compression, but what are they for leakdowns? other than the 2% nominal figure.
when at tdc on the compression stroke, are all valves closed for that cylinder? how can you tell if its the valves or seals leaking and what are the acceptable values for the seals
btw are any of you running a kit untuned? fmu/injectors id imagine..

yes at tdc all the valves are supposed to be closed, I could tell because I took the wg off and heard the air rushing out there, I heard no air leaking through the oil filler (means its going past the rings) or through the throttle body (means its going thru the intake valves).
I'm not sure what acceptable leak down numbers
My kits is tuned, 440cc injectors with AFC, tuned it myself on the dyno...

are you at least tuning with an afc/smc device and a/f gauge or wideband? i plan to do that and im still very worried im gonna blow something
compression was 210 210 205 210
leak down was 3% 2% 4% 2%
on a motor with 135k i checked this the other day, motor has been boosted on for a while at 10psi
Oh its a 96 b18b
