Why do people shy away from regrinds?
Just trying to start some good tech debate as to why people shy away from reground camshafts. I've searched for the past couple days on here, engine-builder.com, and a few other sites. I have yet to come up with anything, other than "I don't like regrinds" or "regrinds suck, get new billets" et. al.
So feel free to chime in with WHY people tend to stay away from them. From what i've read, rocket's regrinds are making pretty damned impressive numbers.
**Note: hopefully people are smart enough to realize that if they want to voice an opinion about this subject, it would be appreciated if they had some reasoning (i.e. facts) to back it up.

It depends if the cam was hardened all the way through, or just on the surface. If it's reground and was originally only surface hardened, that hard surface is now gone - it'll wear very quickly.
OTOH, if the reground part is rehardened, it should be fine...
