i am kind of new to the standalone world and i was thinking of buying an aem ems but i am a little worried about what other expenses are needed to run the ems propperly. i have been doing some reading and i have come to realize that not only do you need the ems "box" itself but you also need a wideband o2 sensor and controller like the FJO unit, injectors some where in the neighborhood of 780cc's, and a gm 3 bar map sensor.

if there is anything i left out guys please inform me so that i cn make an educated decision.

also could you guys list you personal pro's and con's to using the AEM EMS setup!

Guess I'll be the first.

As far as any engine management system that you tune yourself it is highly recommended that you tune with a wideband........without it you are tuning blindly.
EMS can run any injector size pretty much--so no, injectors in the neighborhood of 780 is not true. You can use stock 240's if you so chose.
Map sensor is not needed unless you choose to boost over 12 psi. This goes for any other engine management system. It can however support a wide array of sensors, not limiting to a 5 bar if needed.
Boost control is easily acheived with a $15 boost control solonoid from GM, so you save a considerable amount right there.

Pro's and cons, hmm. I could go on for days. Lets just say that Ive owned a hondata, and I wanted to upgrade my management so I chose the AEM. It is a true standalone that the only needed item would be a computer to get running.

 

All i needed was the 3 bar map sensor....injector size depends on what hp you want to put down..
