anyone running the kumho ecsta mx's?
I've had them for a couple of months on several driving events and they are an excellent tire. I let a couple of people drive my car on the track who had Azenis and they said they were just as good as the Falken tires. Also from what I have heard they are somewhat better in the wet.
However the Azenis are somewhat cheaper. I think you can get the Azenis for $250 shipped while the MX's ran me about $310 shipped.
I'm not sure the treadwear rating on the Azenis but on my MX's it is 220.

I'm going to give them a try as my 3-season tire once my 195/50 S-03's are toast.
I'm not particularly happy with a 195/50/15 on the R, and supposedly the MX is not as wide as the Azenis 205/50, so it may be good to try on the stock rims.

There is a guy who ran one day at the track with Azenis, then the next day on MX. It was his first day at the track, so it could be said he was not pushing either tire. He said that the grip levels are very similar, but the MX may give way (he said "drift") sooner- which implies slightly less grip. The sidewalls for the MX are arent as stiff as the uber-stiff Azenis sidewalls either.

Mounting a 205 azenis was as hard as mounting a 225 kuhmo ecsta v700 on the same rim.
Both were a real bitch.

I woudl call this an accurate description and I was the one who drove JediGSR's MX's . . .Both good tires. Due to cost I ill probably just rock Azenis all the time.

For a daily driven tire i'd choose the ecsta MX over the Azenis - better wet traction. Of course, any wet traction is better than hydroplaning all the time.
yea I was leaning toward the mx's.. cause of the wet traction, unless I manage to have to get a new pair before it starts raining here again, then i might get the azenis... recently though for some reason it's been raining... should stop soon though..

So... it is possible to run a 225/50 tire on a stock ITR rim as a daily driver... right?

yes, if you don't mind the tyres rubbing the rear trailing arm and the front tyres rubbing the inside the wheel wells when making sharp turns

b/c those were 225/45 on 16" wheels. 225/50 on stock 15" wheels will rub; at least they did w/ kumhos.
