Default 91 Civic hatchback (std or DX ?)

Hey everyone,

I was looking at this car online and was told it was a 5 speed DX hatchback. Does anyone know which it is? It doesn't say DX on the back, can you tell from the engine?
Thanks for any and all help

can't tell if it's a DX but it's for sure a 5 speed. And yes, I do know that what I just told you doesn't help at all.

So it's a standard with a 4 speed?

I asked that specifically "Is it a standard or DX, 4 or 5 speed?" The guy told me it's a 5 speed DX. Does it make that much difference?

looks like.....not an si. it sould be either. if its a 5speed, its either a dx(yes, the dx came with black bumper) or its a std with a trans swap. std doesnt have rear wiper, but it may have been an option in dx.

It has no rear wiper, it's an std. Plus it has std seats. My 88 Std is a canadian model and it came with a DX motor and a 5-speed (both motor and tranny are for sale ) Oh, and it has the flat black bumpers and middle section of the tailights, which further proves my point.

Can't the person give you the VIN? That should tell all.

IMO STD no rear whiper, pleather seats, black center between tail, 5sp is the question though....all STD to my knowledge were 4 sps. Tranny swap maybe

canadian models go as follows

CX: black bumpers, no rear wiper, black cernterpiece in tail lights, no radio (option), 8 valve d15b7 (correct?)

DX: colour matched bumpers, dpfi 16 valve d15b2, no pass mirror, red centerpiece, rear wiper...so on and so on

Si: sunroof, Si fron lip, d16a6 mpfi, dual tip muffler, si seats....bla bla bla

there is also an SE model but since they aren't very abundent i don't know alot about them

Cmon lets be real here--this hatch was obviously not owned by an enthusiast---therefore I highly doubt it is a "5spd swap." Btw all US 90-91 dx's had painted bumpers. Thisis a STANDARD 4spd.

Standard then, without a doubt. The guy I bought it from either didn't have a clue, or mis-represented the car on purpose. Either way, the car is still pretty clean. Should I keep the white walls?

I have the VIN, where do you look?

Thanks for all the help guys.

It's a STD, I got one just like it. Take a look at the engine, can't miss the two fuel injectors instead of four

There should be a VIN breakdown in most Helms manuals, and possibly chiltons. I'm at work, but I'll look when I get home.

My civic STD has a spot where the cigarette lighter was, but i assume it just got taken out when the stereo was stolen.
