difference between OBD1 and OBD2 knock sensor?
I don't know. I'm sure the sensor is good, but I'm still getting a code so now I'm wondering if the OBD2 sensor won't work with an OBD1 ecu.
Well, you might be using a 2 wire sensor on a car that usually uses a 1 wire sensor... maybe the wires are backwards ?
Oh, BTW, did you reset your ECU ?

They interchange with no troubles. I broke the one on my 2000 Civic Si (argh) and I replaced it with a used one from a B16A3 Del Sol VTEC engine.

X2 - yeah, I reset the ecu but I still get the code.
Sonny- You had to use a different plug for the OBD1 right?
I am going to pull my ecu and check continuity on the wiring this weekend, that might be the cause since the sensors are the same.

Spade - it's in D3. I broke my original sensor when I did my swap but I wired it up anyway. I ran a chipped p28 a few weeks later and didn't worry about the sensor until now. I had to put in my stock p30 for emissions testing. That and the fact that my gas mileage went from ~22 mpg to ~28 mpg.
I don't have it in the block. I've just wired it up inline and grounded it, but I've read that several people on here have done the same thing. I've tried different ground points and I've isolated the sensor so that no vibration will occur but still no luck. I'll keep screwing with it until I work something out.
