Which 195/55/15 tires should I get?
I need new tires. I bought wheels with Bridgestone Potenza RE010s on them and they are pretty worn out. The Potenzas are very expensive. At $123/ea, are they worth the price? Are they truely better than the other tires I have listed in my poll? The Yokohama AVS ES100s look very tempting, since they only cost $57/ea. Anybody have experience with these? I've heard mixed reviews about the Kumhos, but the Yokos are cheaper and Yokohama is a more well known brand, so unless the Kumhos are better than the Yokos, I would not consider them. The Toyos are the middle gound (not expensive, not cheap). Anybody have experience with these?
I am only interested in 195/55/15. I know that many of you run 205/50/15, but I'm not interested in that size so please don't recommend anything of that size. Thanks!

I want to preserve the factory diameter so the speedometer and odometer would be accurate.

You realize that even with that amount of difference the speedometer will only be of by ~3 mph at high speeds? And it would say you are going faster than you really are, thus meaning you should speed less.

i have the yoko avs es100's in the size you want.
not for sale..but on my car...lol.
i bought them because of the price and the treadwear.
i used to have 205/50/15 azenis. great dry weather tires that didn't last too
long. i mean i got 20k miles out of them but the yoko's last longer and they
drove GREAT in some of the heavy rains we've experience here in cali. they
don't drive as well as the azenis on turns, but **** it's a skinnier tire and the
sidewall isn't as stiff...go figure. but they do very well for the turning i am
putting them through on a daily basis. the ride comfort is great and not as
much road noise as the azenis. when i first broke them in they were a lil
noisier..but after breakin' them in a bit they are pretty quiet.
if i had to buy another 195/55/15 tire i'd definitely go with these again.
but, i'd rather buy 16 inch rotas that are 7 inches wide and spend my tire money
on something that's 205/45/16...like some goodyear eagle f-1's or yoko's in the
same size.
i wouldn't get the bridestone potenzas unless i had money to burn.

Well I already don't speed. Never got a speeding ticket in my 6.5 years of driving.
Thanks for all the replies, but the topic is to discuss 195/55/15 size tires. I searched, but couldn't find a topic on this size.
I believe that the Bridgestone Potenza RE010s on the ITRs are L/R side specific, but the Tire Rack website didn't differentiate the left tire from the right tire. Did Bridgestone change their tire specifications or something?

With my new setup, 215-40-16, now I have speed error of - 2 mph Speedo error (safe side)!

why? are you saying you prefer 205/50 > 195/55?
what's the reason behind it? actually what's the benefit of having "skinner" tire?

to me, it wasn't about the skinnier tire, it was more being able to have more options when buying a tire, there aren't many 195/55's out there

hey man, tires are everything so don't be cheap...
the new advan neova's are bitchin' tires - best tire you can get for the street in japan right now. but they are steep at $120 per tire for 195/55/15's and they're a waste if you don't track them.

advan neova.... so they are good street tires but a waste if you don't track them? how's that compare to Azenis?
also, where can you get a set of those for $120?
also I've heard there are different class of advan neova. is that true?

The Bridgestone S-02 PP is available in the size 195/55R15 in Europe. Ask every dealer in the US. Maybe you are lucky...
195/55/15 RE010s L/R on the ITR are side specific, right? I checked on http://www.tirerack.com and they are not side specific. Earlier this year tirerack.com listed the left and right side RE010 tires separately, but no more. Did Bridgestone change the RE010 or something? I also noticed that Potenza RE010s used to be about $150/ea but the are now $123/ea.
