well not really by the man but by an 18 wheeler retread. coming back with the midwest crew monday afternoon with me leading we proceded to hit not one but two complete retreads sitting in the middle of the lane on I80. the first one wasn't bad but the second one did damage to all 5 cars in the caravan.

me - bent cat heat shield
chris n - front lip scuffs and the wheel well liner separated from the bumper
cheezthis - f'ed up alignment
brewcityr - front lip scuffs
splitime - wheel well liner disconnected from the car and left for dead on the side of the road

Word...that **** happened to me and fucked up my body panels. So my passenger just punched the car with a girly little hand, and popped it back into place.

 

Yeah...my alignment went bad. I also have some rattling from that area on the car during high speeds, sounds like rocks or something (not detonation though).

My idle started acting up in traffic afterwards as well, maybe I tore a vacuum line or something?

You forgot that it ripped off part of my lip on the drivers side and broke off part of the foglights I had installed the day before

both times there was a pickup in front of me that didn't even have to blink at it so there was no time to get my swerve on.

 

Damn retreads.
I can get fined $500-$1000 for throwing a candy wrapper out a car window on the highway, but a truck can launch a rather heavy piece of rubber with no recourse!!

I left my rubber marks, they are kinda cool looking. And I figure I'll get more 'cool' front bumper marks driving to gingerman friday.....

Exact same thing happened to me once on a road trip...boy was i pissed

It bent my fender a bit too, so my fender liner was all off wack when I installed the new one

 

Damn, I'm sorry that happened to you guys... At least no one got hurt though, I've heard stories of **** off trucks flying through people's windshields.

Did you see the truck or truck line that the retread came off of, or was it just laying in the middle of the road when you all came across it? Really if you wanted to get crazy about getting money for your damages I'm fairly certain you could sue the state department that is responsible for the upkeep of the roads. Now, I don't know if the damages were enough to make pursueing something like that worth while, but a friend of my mother's got in an accident with an uninsured motorist and ended up sueing the state for her damages and winning. So I know stuff like that IS possible.
