all you need to do is hook up a switch in series between the brake switch and the brake lights

i've actually considered doing the opposite....so that if i'm speeding and see a cop behind me, i can slam on my brakes without my lights coming on and him knowing that i was speeding. like a switch to disable them. for now i just downshift and e-brake, but thats a lot of work to speed

Cutting a switch into one wire of the brake light switch (on the brake pedal bracket) will probably do the trick.

offtopic: Ooh nice...an Airvair My dad owned 7 in a row, before I was born...always wanted one.

Keep in mind - it's probably illegal in most states. Careful.

I believe that is exactly what he is trying to do...

I had this done on my Firebird some time back. Haven't done it to my civic yet tho...

3 Recommendations from experience:

1) This is dangerous
2) Don't hook a direct switch... wire in a double throw Relay.
3) Wire in an in-cabin light to notify you when your brake lights are turned Off.

I believe they all share a common ground.

you could put the switch there... probably.

EDIT: but then it would turn off the taillights if you were going at night...so I guess that would be bad.
