Hi, my 98 ITR has developed a crunching when changing from 3rd to 4th at high revs 5500rpm+. If i double de-cluch the crunching doesnt occur, any ideas what it coud be? ?

This dealer says this too. Does this not seem unusual for a 3 year old car with only 36000 miles on the clock, i must admit i am disapointed because i thought Hondas were reliable, or am i being niave.

Have you changed the transmission oil and if so, what kind of fluid did you use? Some people have changed their transmission fluid and they have used either a synthetic fluid or some other transmission fluid which is to slippery and it does not allow the synchros to operate propely.
Your synchros shouldn't be going bad after only 36k miles.

mine did that too... bad clutch disc springs, they had become loose.
double clutching was the cure in the meantime.
it shifted fine at low rpm and at a stop.
once in a while it would get hard to go into another gear.. 1st, 2nd, but it was always getting worse for 3rd and 4th.

got a new clutch and its all better.

I think that it's probably the clutch. Sounds like a problem that I had. But, I changed the clutch and the tranny. No point in taking chances you know. Just kidding, I had an ITR trans that I wanted to put in the car.
