Default Question about Aftermarket pistons w/ OEM rods

When using Aftermarket pistons w/ OEM rods, do the pistons still require being pin'd in like OEM, or will they work as floating.

Question for using JE or Wisco pistons on stock d16z6 rods.

you need to heat the wrist pins to make them work. the machine shop can do it

question here; why are you keeping the stock d16z6 rods? Not to flame but I hope you know the rods won't handle anything past 200 at the flywheel. since you got the pistons, mind as well replace the rods. the weakest point on the d16 block is the rods.

Because we are debating an experiment. To have them D16z rods cryo'd at a new automotive specific cryo lab that just open'd in in a town close by. There is a wide debate in this area if the process works or not to strengthen stock parts. So we are thinking of testing this process ourselves rather then just go off what others have speculated.
They say the "cryo" process is good for 30% at least stronger then stock.
I can't find the link right now, but I will post it once I do.
Its being heavily used by DSM guys, and they will do anything from complete motors and trannys to rod bearings. I dunno about it, I think its sketchy as hell, but thats why it best to field test it.
