Default is300 or rsx-s

im looking to buy a used car sometime this or next year. for the price range, i've narrowed it down to these two cars(for now). im looking for some input on which would be the better buy. from what i've seen, the price ranges of the 2001 is300's are aobut the same as the 2002 rsx-s. thanks in advance

Those are both good choices, I can help you out a little.

is300-My best friend has a 2003 is300 and is is a very good car luxury. Comfortable and has a great sound system and looks great. Power wise it kinda lags up to 90mph but it dose have power but after that it rapes on the freeway and can hang or beat alot of cars.

We have racesd many times and if i dont shift at redline in 4th he will pull on me, This is dropping into 3rd Btw. All in all a great car to have and the ladies love it too that is always a plus. With a few mods that car will have great potential and can look great dumped with the stock rims or the right rims. Btw- my friends car is auto if you get the car get it in STICK it will be alot faster as well. Still a good car in my opinion.

rsx type s-My other good friend has a rsx type s and that car is too sick. Lots of power in stock and with jut a few mods you can have a low 14-13sec car. My friend has the Oem kit, 18 inch rota subzeros and jdm headlights and Aem intake. Also it is dropped.

We have race many times as well and damn with the rims and as 10 in the trunk pulls like nobody's business. I have beat him a few times on the freeway but most of the time that car will beat me by have a car or so it is always close, The same things goes for the street we have shared are share of races. The interior is very nice and great feel to it not as much luxury but for acura they did a great job.

But both car's have their advantages and disadvantages in my book and i have driven both of the more that once, So i think i can say a thing or too on the subject.

Sorry for such a long post but just trying to help out other honda-tech peeps. But if i was in your shoes i would go with the Rsx over the is300 but that is just me. I hope that helps you make up your mind .

thanks for the great response that will really help with my decision.... im leaning towards something with more luxury, but i cant afford a 2003 is300. the 2001 is300 interior doesnt impress me as much as the rsx-s. so the rsx-s interior is definitely a selling point

the rsx-s interior is very nice but, i do perfer the is300 interior for comfort wise. No problem man i was glad to help out if you need anything else just pm me.

Lates Greg

Btw-I chose the rsx-s because i love hondas too much and would get any honda or acura pretty much over all other cars. I love V-tec way to much .

are you looking for an auto or a stick? the stick-shift model for the IS300 didn't come out until 2002...that means more money for you...

i know because my close friend has a 2001 auto, the only option that year.

now if you're talking about 2002 IS300 vs. 2002 RSX Type S (both stick) I would personally go IS300 all the way!

There's no way of matching the feeling you get in a car with a RWD drivetrain...especailly around corners...late

PS: if you think i'm biased, i personally drive a '02 RSX Type S.

no problem...here's somemore info: the '02 manual IS300's have the factory lip rear deck spoiler...also, 2002+ IS300 have a higher ride height then '01's...'01 and '02 interior's are basically the same...'03 is were they made the "major" changes including the "better" cup holder...'02+ is where the optional "black" housing rear tail-lights came into play...late

if you're living in area without snow, I think ALTEZZA is the answer...but RSX is not a bad choice at all...I like them both, but I like the look of the altezza better.

technically it's not an Altezza anymore since it came over with a 3.0L straight 6 motor and the real Altezza has the 2.0L high reving four banger...therefore it's an IS300 in N. America and still is an IS200 "Altezza" in Japan.

IMHO, even though Lexus is still a Toyota, after that big of a motor change, it can't be called the Altezza anymore in N. America...especially since the front end is slightly different.

Edit: But yeah, IS300 all the way!

i like the is300 its my fav car, its has the 2jz in it and thats the na turbo supra engine BUT if you were really really rich you could get a 2gzgte which is the twin turbo supra engine and it would match up perfectly in the is300 but im about to buy a rsx type s because its cheaper and easyer to mod with out spending millions ill just spend thousands !

is300 for me.... unless you can get an RSX for low 20s with decent mileage.. i dont know the pricing on RSX, as far as used... brand new RSX, i think its over rated for the price...

i like em, though..

looks like im really set on a rsx-s. my dilemma now is whether or not to
1)swap a b18c into my ek this year and wait on the rsx until next year or
2)save that swap money, sell my civic, put a down on the rsx-s

well, If I were you, I'd go with the swap, b/c theres always going to be something better on the horizon "next year" and you'll be thinking about the next big thing when the time comes...

But if you have the money and the means to get the swap, I hear its a good setup, plus you'll have money left over in the long run for even more mods!!!
