Hi! I'm selling my R! Too many problems with thiefs!
I was wondering if it's gonna be the same problem with the RSX Type-S...
I don't know is gonna be possible to make a hybrid using RSX parts! Not for a while I think! What do you guys think???

Stay with the R! The Type S will have just as many problems because of people looking at the Car. It is new, not many people will know what it is and will be all over it. You might have the same problem with the R, but at least you have an R over an S. Right? Just my .02$
I think the car is going to be very HOT on the streets. As for parts, I dont think it will compare to previous models because of the way its designed, who knows, especially the engine bay. I mean, the new Civics have been out for quite awhile now and they have all been stock. I have yet to see a hooked up new Civic. I think it will be hot just because its an Acura, but dont know how it will do in the aftermarket world...

from what i've heard about the new civics, the way that they were designed you really can't do to much to them w/out them failing emissions...I heard somewhere that the only thing you can do to them right now at least is an intake...anything else will mess w/ what honda did to get the ULEV standard...
I wish I remember where I heard that....???

Since the Civic Si will use the same 2.0l engine as the base RSX, expect the same kind of cannibalizing of RSXs to make fast Civics. The K20 (RSX Type-S engine) will be the new B18C5 - everyone will want it for their civic. Hopefully it will take some of the heat off us ITR owners.
Can the RSX 6 speed tranny be used for our ITR?
I might stole one for my ITR. LOL...
naah, don't worry. RSX is new, not so many people will want their parts.
Not yet anyway.. but soon, if the Hype goes on... then..

Nope, the new K20 engine spins the right way so the tranny will not bolt up to a B18. Besides, only B series stuff is interchangeble, and I assume the K series is the same way.
I don't think it will be nearly as bad. How may civics and gs-r are there in the US that a R engine will bolt into. A LOT. The only cars a RSX engine will bold into is post 2000 cars right?
Well, the problem is, they keep making Teg parts interchangeable with Civics!!!!! I mean, how many people steal TL engines and put them into Civics? NONE, cause you cant!! I dont think the theft rate on TL's is quite as high.....
I know in other parts of the world our Tegs are Honda's, soooo??
Its only inevitable that this will happen and they are doing it again with the 2002 Civic and RSX.
Why do they continue to build our poor Tegs after the Civic chassis and what not? Why cant they just completely keep it away from Civics....
The RSX would have been a good brand new starting point....
thoughts????

um, there is a certain dollar factor in developing a new platform and still be affordable to the masses... if u don't want a civic-based acura that's what the cl type-s is about...
i dont think all people that do engine swaps really even care about emission.. not me at least.. who really cares if its smog legal or not.. as long as illegal smog is still around i rather go that way then loose performance because of some law.. all we do on our cars is illegal anyways so i dont bother trying to make your car fast yet not to pollute the enivornment..
The whole theft problem will probably rear it's ugly head once the RSX and current Civic become greater in number. As long as those two cars share a platform and part interchangebility, you can expect quite a bit of pillaging from Civics and lower model RSXs from the Type S. Just look at the theft rate on the previous Civic Si(R) wheels and how many DXs you see with those wheels.
I think thefts of the RSX for parts will not be significant for quite a while. I assume physically the parts are interchangable with the new Civic but the demand is just not there. I think it's unlikely someone who can afford to buy a brand new or relatively new Civic will immediately start looking for cheap stolen RSX parts to throw into it. The supply of existing RSX parts will be low and the demand to put them into Civics should be low for a few years.
Currently anyone can buy or steal one of the millions of Civics made in the 90's and then throw Integra parts into it. There are thousands of Civic owners who'd like a VTEC engine in their car and thousands of VTEC Integras ripe for the picking. The result is horrible theft problems.

I know someone mentioned the engine in the RSX spins the right way, but don't forget stuff like the intake will now be in the front on the engine bay and exhaust inback, where as the new Civic is just like the current Integra if I remember correctly.
