1st Gear VTEC not engaging???
Alright guys, i noticed my car was cutting out sometiems when i floored it threw any gear, the power would just cut out and than go back in.
So I got a new cap and rotor, and put them in, and when i took the old one out, the sqrew that holds rotor in place, was just chillin at the bottem of the dist. cap. And the Cover that covers the internals of the dist. was ruined. I took that out, and didnt replace it(i will soon). A whole prong inside the cap was bent off, and the rotor was horrable condition, i dont know how my car still ran with power.
ANYWAY, i replaced it all, and took it out, and started rippin on it, the car was amazing, ive never felt the change over rip this much. But that all ended today, for some reason, my VTEC in 1st gear doesnt change over? I havnt taken it to 8k without VTEC, because there was no power, i wasnt even going to attempt, but i ripped it to about 7k, and still no VTEC.
Could my problem be that distributor cover?????? OR what could it be!?!?!
2nd and 3rd gear vtec pull hard as anything...
Im so confused..
HELP!

It's prolly all just in your head. Make sure everything is correct with your installation and let the car warm up. Check your oil level to see if it's all good.
Do not even think about taking your car into VTEC unless the car has warmed up.
It'll engage in 1st gear, but the MAP sensor has to send the correct signal and the ECU also has to read the correct oil pressure level along with all RPM signal.
If those aren't correct VTEC wont switch over.

The same thing happened to me once too. It was the vss, with a stock computer, your vtec will not turn on unless your going over like 20 mph or something along the lines of that, check your speedometer next time. Just a thought.
Well, as mentioned...you must be going at least 20mph for vtec to engage... and the VSS plays and important role in this... but I'd first check your oil LEVEL... vtec does depend on oil PRESSURE, but if your oil level is too low or high, it will affect engagement.
