Default is 91 octane ok?

the manual for my 93 DX hatch is recommending that i use an octane higher than 86. i want to know if putting 91 will help, hurt or affect the car/motor/ performance in any way. thanx.

Use middle grade, the DX motor's compression does not need high octane - couldn't hurt though...

it honestly doesnt matter.....unless u have like FI or a beamer or 2.0+ ltr. Like a high comp ratio engine would call for for higer octane. Depending on what engine you have.....what do you have??????

bay area gas is f'ing expensive. i'd stay with the 87 until you get a motor i'd care more about...unless it's not a stock d16

That's it. We used to have 93 octane a few years ago, but they took it away

use 87 anything higher is a waste of money. You would only need higher octane if you advanced your timing, had nitrous/turbo/super, and/or raised your compression.
