power to manual steering
i just got finished swapping in a manual rack into my 93 civic ex coupe. i looked all aroundhere and alot of people said to buy the subframe along with the manual rack becuz the bolt pattern was a little different on the passenger side mounting bracket. (about .25") i had the yard i got it from put the rack on a power steering model and they said it bolted up fine. once i had got my new rack in i realized the difference. the power steering housing is bigger hence the longer bolt pattern. but you dont need to go and buy the subframe. instead just put the stock ps bushing over the bushing on the manual rack and bolt that sucker on with the ps bracket. i've had it on a few days now and it feels just fine. so dont waste money gettin the subframe.
what about looping the power steering rack instead of buying a manual one? what are the disadvantages to this? i want to remove my power steering.
that would probably be the simplest way. i would've done that if i had known but i had been runnin my rack dry for a long time and i had ripped out all the lines. do that instead for sure. much easier and plus the power steering rack has a noticeably shorter ratio (quicker turning). i'm gettin used to my manual rack though. but yeah just loop the lines and consider making a breather for it. thats what the realtime integras do

why not just post it here? it would be good info to have in the archives.

A vented loop is all I need to not burn it up. Anymore descriptions beyond that. I'm having a hard time visualizing it......and to tell you the truth I'm having a hard time focusing on anything right now because I'm just ready to go home.

correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the stock non-power rack only bolt with the driver side mounts... I think the pass. side mount with the bushing is only used on the power steering rack...
At least that's what ES instructions for the bushings said.

look up at the first post in this forum, you can shove the ps bushing and bracket over the bushing on the manual rack and bolt it on, its working so far

No what I'm saying/asking is that the non-power rack doesn't need those mounting points... the energy susp. master kit indicated that those mounts were not used on the non-powersteering model cars.
I'm sure it's better to use them if you can but I think stock they aren't there.

on the manual subframe, the passenger side mount is "flat" the power one is curved, to compensate for the larger diameter rack. that is the ONLY difference
i have personally looked at the subframes side by side
i agree that switching to a manual rack is good for a street driven car, i tried looping my power for awhile and the rack developed alot of excess play in it, it was very dangerous and unprrdictable at higher speeds. i loved the shorted ratio of the ps rack, but it was not worth having the play in it.

i actually used the energy suspension bushing from my es kit to shove over the stock manual rack bushing. the manual rack does bolt on on the pass. side cuz mine came with the bracket. the reason es only makes one for the power model is that the stock power one has a cut in it to pull it off while the manual one has a bushing permanently attached

My JDM B18C is going into my 93 eh hatch this weekend. My question is I just took off the ps off my B18C because i didnt want it. Will it drive the same as my hatch that currently doesnt have ps or is there three types of steerings? I dont mean to confuse you, but does my hatch that doesnt have ps have some sort of power to hepl me steer and will i lack that with just taking off everything from my b-series motor?
