How do you fill up the tranny with fluid? And how much does it take?
I have a ZC tranny. Today I took the starter off the engine and noticed a bolt with giant washer, I take it that is how you fill the tranny? Also under it is a bolt that a 3/8 socket wrench fits into, is that how you get it out? How much tranny fluid do these take so I know how many bottles to buy from Honda?
yeha u got the bolts right
nwo it takes 10-30 motor oil... by honda books....
anyhow takes about 2 litters and alil bit more... just fill it till the fill hole cries out

Aren't there 2 holes? Ones the drain hole and one has fluid pour out when the correct level has been reached?
I'm looking at my CRX owners manual and it says to use 1.9 qts. I use a 17 MM wrench to open the "fill" hole. I also, per recommendation of the Honda dealership, use semi-synthetic oil....10w30 or 5w30...I found it easiest to get a small funnel and a long clear hose attached to the end...put the end in the hole and fill er' up!
the easiest way i've found is to pull the speedo housing (VSS) from the top of the tranny and then run a long hose to it. the speedo housing only has one 10mm bolt so its simple to pull/install, and its easier to fill the tranny this way because its on TOP of the trans.
drain through the bottom plug, fill through the speedo housing.

I have a better way. I bought a funnel at Wal-Mart which has a long clear tube already attached, and has a off and on lever. It's very cool, and helpful. No need to remove anything. Also for transmission oil, use Honda MTF (manual transmission fluid). When my brother got his swap done at a shop, they used regular motor oil also. But later the tranny started to grind in high rpm shifts. I switched him to Honda MTF, and bye bye grinds.
pulling out the VSS on my tranny was a bitch...actually i never really pulled it out, b/c i couldn't get it out!
but anyways, i use an inline hand pump to fill my tranny. i got it from napa for like $5. its made by sta lube.
here is a pic of it:

This man right here hit the nail right on the head. This way you can crawl under the car and pump as much in as you need. The funnel with the on/off switch is a good idea too!

I'm using Honda MTF for sure, as its made for the Honda tranny. Regular motor oil doesn't have certain anti-grind additives real tranny fluid has.
Also getting to the fill hole is no big deal, the tranny is out of the engine and I didn't put the starter in yet so no big deal.

same here..
but my b16a swap sucks to drain/fill.. the drain bolt is blocked by my lower cusco strut bar, and my filler bolt by the body of the car.. hehee. much fun..

Drain/fill it while it is still out of the car. When your'e filling it, tilt the trans upwards(so the fill plug is starting to become horizontal). You can get alot more fluid it there that way, which never hurts. I got 3 qts. stuffed in mine and it's smooth as buttaz yO.

tranny fluid doesn't come out of the axle holes when you fill the tranny while its out of the car?

it sure as hell better if you're putting 2 quarts in. fill the trans while its IN the car with both axles installed.
