which tires? Dunlop SP9000 or Bridgestone RE730?
I'm looking for a good performance tire which is fairly quiet. Which do you guys recommend? The only two i've been considering so far are the SP9000 and RE730. I've seen SP9000 at Tirerack for $148 a piece and RE730 for $133 a piece. Do you guys think the extra $$$ for the SP9000s are worth it? I also heard the SP9000s are pretty good in the rain. Does anyone actually have these tires? what about the RE730s?
Thanks!
Thanks!
throttle8k from ha.net has those tires on his supercharged(vortech) SI and he likes them a lot. If he doesnt have them anymore he atleast loved them before he put on teh blower. they are great from what i have heard.
RE 730 is a great tire. SP900 is as well so you won't go wrong either way. I don't think it is worth the extra $$ though. I am assuming these are on larger than stock wheels.
what size tire are you buying? I have the RE-730's are they are awesome.

if i had to pick between the two i would get the sp sport 9000's. they are both great tires performance wise, the 9000 has a bit more rain handling ability, but the re730 gets really loud aftr 10000 or os miles.....and i mean REALLY LOUD. i know at least 4 people with them and they loved them until they had them for 6 months or so and hot the magical 10000 mile mark on them...it was like clockwork. it sounds like your running studded snowtires when you drive on the highway. i'd stick with the 9000's.

stick,
i have sp8000 on my OEM rims right now...they're pretty quiet and stick pretty well...but i'm buying tires for 17"x7.5" rims...
i guess i'll have to check and see if SP8000s come in 205/40-17....
if the RE730s get loud after 10K of driving, i'll have to pass on getting them. I don't want to be able to hear my tires, well maybe hear as little as possible...

I'm about to purchase a set of SP9000s for my new 16" rims. I should have them by the end of this week/weekend, so I'll let you know how I like them (btw I'm coming from Pirelli P7000 on 17" rims, so I'll have a direct comparison to another very good tire)...
I will go with the SP9000's currently thats what I have and it is great! I had the Kumho Supra ECSTA before and I did not like them at all. and it really true that you get what you pay for....
Well i have the RE730
i agree that they are WAY too loud after a couple K miles...
i have them in 205/50/15 on my stock rims.
they are really great, but expect some noise

The Bridgestone RE730 is a good tire, better grip than the 9000s. The Dunlo 8000s is ok.., but kind of old. I'd say the Kuhmo tire is the best for the dollar.
I too have the RE730. I like them. Ive gone 2 autox and driving school with them. still got a lot of thread. Im waiting until they wear out.
I'm thinking about getting some kuhmos next.

I just got my Kumhos about a month ago and they are OK tires.
I put them on my stock GSR rims to replace the 17's that I'd just cracked. They will squeal/lose grip during hard cornering and the sidewall isn't too stiff(maybe it's just the 205/50/15 size). I've had the Yoko A520s in 205/40/17and these tires stick like a ****. Too bad the Yokos don't come in 205/50/15 or I would of gotten them instead.
