My Expo Post Expo Thread!
I have so many things to say I am sure I will forget. That being the case keep checking back as I add things.
I want to thank everyone that helped me with this event. Dave, George, Willard, Mike (Mugenmike), Clayton (Ausmith), Willard, Melanie (my wife), Tim (halltd), Lance (lanceh), Tracy (Civic_sista), Jeff (Budman), Brian (M3 username I can never remember), ALL the instructors, and many many others.
I met SO SO many people this weekend. Most of you I could tell you your First and Last name as soon as you said your board name. Everyone was SO well behaved this weekend. The Banquet hall people called us polite and a joy to serve. The track thanked for how well we behaved and was glad to see we had only one minor incident (Not minor to Sean but he was able to drive it home so it could have been worse.) I have to say that the true goodness in everyone came out. We al helped each other and had a great time.
Quick story:
I bought brand new Azenis for the Expo. Put them on last week and the plan was to drive up on them, track them and drive home on them. As a safety precaution I loaded up 2 of my Mazda 929 wheels with my autocross Azenis (Very work but still with a tread pattern). I figured 2 would be enough to let me match the tires and not fill up the car. One of the students hit something on the drive up and bent his rim (Stock rim). I know his full name (Ryan is his first) but don't recall his board name without getting out my spreadsheet so I will let him reply if he sees this. I can't tell you how glad I am that I brought those tires. Ryan got to use them all weekend and didn't miss a single session due to his unforuntate incident. I was not the only case of this hospitality and that was what made this event great.
I have even more stories like this. I stopped by and met with Christian in the parking lot and they were fighting with a rotor screw and no impact screwdriver. I happened to have one of those too. They had almost stripped out the screw but with a little extra force I got it out for them and then they borrowed my tools. Best part? I left my tools out there and didn't even remember anything about them till the next day. Christian thanks me for the help and the continued use of the tools and every single tool was in it's place and waiting for me in his truck. R guys with Honor, gotta love it!
I have 2 special thanks to go out.
Dave Balogh (Dave ROR and many others) design and wrote the online registration. I am confident this events organization was brought on by the awesome job he did with this. Without that I would have spent countless hours going through even more emails and papers. Dave you saved me big time and I want you to know how much I appreciate it.
George Knighton! George was a confidant of sorts. You guys saw him as the safety person but George was a connection to many of the key players like instructors and such. But beyond that George helped me deal with problems that arose in a logical way that benefited everyone when the situation permitted. It really meant a lot for me to have someone to listen to me fuss and then help me make a good choice. Thanks George!!!
Ok . . .The event itself.
The track event went very well. I was please to see lots of improvement in the groups and the good track manners everyone had. The instructors worked their butts off and I hope everyone thanks them. We got around 2.5-3 hours of seat time not counting the Group Photo Parade.
The Parade on Saturday brought out 110 (Counted in the picture) Type-R's!!! Our previous record was 43 I believe. I was hoping to triple that number but over 100 was so awesome. I must mention at this point Willard did not live up to his promise and the pants were not soiled.
Speaking of Willard . . . This man instructed 2-3 students all weekend and still came trhough to make a Final Drive and Header install session happen as well. You guys owe him a
!
I want to say this one more time to everyone. I really appreciate all the thanks I got over the weekend. There is a guilty pleasure in it though. I love organizing events so for people to thanks me for having fun just seems wrong. I did this event cause I love the Type-R and I like the community we have. I was lucky enough to have done a few events before on a smaller scale which made this come together.
I am on an official 2 week Vacation from Expo stuff. Then you guys will hear me begin to work on Expo 4. The plan is simple. Find a track. Look for something in the western areas. I plan to find a track and have spoken to a few folks about next year already. I have no intention to keep someone else from heading up the event if they have the experience and know how but will remain involved to make sure it is as successful as it was this year.
I will be sure to begin compiling Pictures and posting those not yet posted as soon as I find time.
Trey
PS: It was a 10.5 hour drive home and we left around 6:30-7:00pm. I am now off to catch up on some much needed sleep

Trey,
Thanks again for everything! This was, by far, the safest and most organized Expo yet. You and all your helpers did a great job getting this event together for everyone.
And thanks for letting me in the fold, eventhough I don't have an R anymore.

Trey you did an awesome job. There were a lot of people that learned to track thier cars for the first time, and it is awesome that everything went without a hitch!

Thanks to everyone who helped organize the event and those who participated. It was well worth the drive. I just got home a few minutes ago (14 hours trip: 6pm-> 8am) and everything seems surreal. It was nice meeting everyone and putting the names to the faces. Time for some zzz's.

Trey, i'm very glad I decided to come and got to shake your hand for all of the work you've done. I would have definately regretted not coming.
the event exceeded all of my expectations.. My jaw dropped from the moment I arrived to the sound of screaming R's and the Mugen RSX on the track. I met alot of people, and I can definately say R owners are truly one of a kind!!
HUGE THANK YOU to all of the sponsors that contributed to the banquet/raffle!! Really made the evening very enjoyable. I got some free stuff here and there

At the gas station when leaving yesterday, one of the locals was taking pics of all of the cars. He said no one believed him when he told them about all the Type R's in town. He was showing off the pics he took earlier, and even wanted a pic of the lowly M3. I think we made his weekend

OMG , i cant believe i didnt put 2and 2 together that that was you with the M, hahaha and you even rolled down there with us . aye aye aye i needed more to drink
A special thanks goes to Brian, for working the track both days non-stop.
Another special thanks goes to the corner workers, for not black flagging me when going all 4 off between 2 &3
I can't comment enough how much everyone worked together to make this event seamless. I will never forget it, and i'm sure most others will not either.
oh yeah, Reid owes me $2 but can easily make it up with 2% points.
