i just bought a AEM short ram intake and the air filter was longer than i thought it would be so i look in the instructions to see if i had to cut it but didn't see any cuting but i still cut it and i wanted to ask u pros some questions
1) is cuting the long part right thing to do?
2) if yes did i cut too much or is it good?

it's cool......shortening the hose extension doesnt affect performance at all

you have just officially circumsized your intake

yea you're fine. i cut my short ram intake too because it stuck too closely to the radiator fan. just make sure you do a good job getting out all the metal shavings. use an air hose or something.
