idea about mid shaft on a D series.....
k guys i have a crazy idea into my head..... and i want to gather people's knowledge in order to find out if this can or cant be done....(please dont reply if u dont have anything good to say)
on a D series torque steer its common because:
1-theres no LSD
2- the power isnt distribuited equal to the tires bc one axle its longer than another one
i wonder if we can do this....make a mid shat fit into a D series tranny by swaping the spindle heads....
swaping cv joints between B and D series axles , so we can come up with 2 equal lenght axles for both sides.
this way with two equal lenght axles the power its more evenly distribuited in the abscense of LSD>....
worries about the outer shaft isnt a problem since i have seen B series axles fit into Si knuckles....now the deal is seeing if we can put a inner CV joint with B series inout shaft to make it fit into mid shaft..... and then to see if any midshat will be compatible with the spindle count of the D series differential..
k any inputs are welcome.....
this idea came out of boredoom.... so lets see if anything its good at all...

it could possibly work just like the zc tranny from 88-91s but finding the right shaft size, length, and number of splines would take some research

those trannies are becoming hard and harder to find now....
with the high demand of swaps of people wantint the ZC its getting hard to find those.... plus i love the Si tranny.... and any ways to make it that way will be better...

I'll pipe in here, although I'm not sure I'm right. I used to have a 4WD wagon with an intermediate shaft. I never tried it, but it looked like it would be interchangeable with the shaft in my Civic. I also had an Integra, and that intermediate shaft looked just like the wagon's. Again, I never got around to trying it. If I had to guess, I'd say the Teg probably wouldn't work (different gen), but the wagon looked dead on. I guess the problem would be finding one.
Somebody set me straight if I'm wrong.

I am with Bravenracer here. I think the best bet may be to find a 4wd wagon differential, half shaft and axles. In theory this should work. If you have the time and money I sure think it would be worth a shot.

The AWD wagon has a d16 in it. All of them to my knowledge have the holes in the block. I know the CRX si's and Civic si's that I've owned all did/do.
I was asking about this a while ago, its great someone acually got thinking about this. I want equal lenght drive axles on my ZC, but I want to stick with my Si tranny. Great Ideas here. Thanks.
i remember someone saying that the A6 was the only D-series in a Civic/CRX (so that doesnt include the A1 or ZC) that has the mounting holes for the intermidate shaft....

custom bracket baby
thats the way to go....
thanxs for all teh inputs... lets keep info comming to see if we can come up with some real stuff...

yeah keep thinking...ive started like two threads on this topic cause I hate the pull to the right when gassing it. I really hate it. Do the wagon trannies have the same spline # as a Si trans on the left side of the trans? where the int shaft would go in? Lets do this ****.
I'm no tranny expert but today I replaced the clutch and pressure plate and throwout bearing on my ZC tranny today. It seemed to me that the tranny is in 2 big peices, like all gears inside on one part, and then the imput shaft and throwout on one other part. Might it be possible to just take that imput shaft part and bolt it up to your Si tranny or whatever and then that would give you an intermediate shaft?

I think the wagons have the larger differential like the ZC. Another option I have seen bounced around would be having the ZC/wagon halfshaft machined to fit the Si differential. Though that would be expensive I am sure.
