Default front end noise

(car: '95 GSR, 82k miles)

lately ive noticed a "popping" or "rattling" sound whenever the car moves forward. i can hear it very well when i'm rolling in neutral or accelerating slowly in 1st. it's not too loud, and seems to be coming from the LF. it's directly related to the car moving forward - not turning or in reverse.

i doubt it's the axle because i just had it replaced yesterday. could it be the bearings? ive heard that bad bearings sound more like off-road truck tires (or nitto NT450's ) any other ideas?

thanks
rich

I have a 95 GSR with 145K kms (about 87K miles) ... I had a strange thich rubber rattle sound from the front when I moved forward .... especially when I put the car in first and idled along. Shortly after, my clutch was replaced. While I could hear the noise afterwards, it gradually dissapeared. When I asked about it, the mechanics at the shop had no idea ... Strange.

loose lug nuts?
jack the car up to take the weight off that wheel and retorque the lugs.
you can be sure thats it if you only hear it in neutral and not under hard acceleration/braking.
