Anyone got an answer to this? I cant figure it out.. why would you want the extra momentum any more on a roots type then you would on an NA or turbo application?

 

I have run a couple of lightend flywheels with the blower. For one the instant power is even more intense and they tend to make the engine idle down very quick, They also are easy to stall. I have found the stock type R flywheel seams to work the best.

 

so a lightened flywheel is okay to get when using the jrsc?

 

I had an ITR with a jrsc and stock pulley (5psi). When i went from the stock flywheel to a spoon flywheel the rpm's climbed much faster and the engine felt more responsive. Since the blower causes parasitic drag as it spins off the motor, the lightened flywheel seems to allow the supercharger to accelerate quicker. I would think that reducing all the accessories that lead to parasitic drag, (ie power steeringa and a/c) would allow the motor to rev quicker and put down more power to the ground (whp).

 

I wouldnt go too light, I would go for the ITR as well.

 

I'm running the 6.75 lb comptech aluminum flywheel in my integra....it accelerates great, but it does die alot coming down to idle. If you do go with a lightened flywheel try get a chromoly one becuase I've seen a few aluminum ones warp(comptech&clutchmasters
